Monaco to win and BTTS

Monaco's three wins this season also saw both teams score.

Club Brugge are set to kick off another UEFA Champions League (UCL) campaign by welcoming Monaco to the Jan Breydel Stadium on Thursday evening. The Belgians impressively managed to get to the round of 16 in the previous campaign, but were knocked out 6-1 on aggregate by Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Monaco were knocked out of the play-offs 4-3 on aggregate by Benfica. Nonetheless, both teams will be hoping to get off to a winning start this time around, in order to give them the best possible chance of progressing from the league phase once more.

Club Brugge vs Monaco prediction: Visitors to emerge victorious?

Key stats

  • Brugge have failed to win either of their last two games heading into this clash.
  • Monaco have won three of their four matches in Ligue 1 so far in the 2025/26 season.
  • Those matches have averaged over three goals per game.

Correct score prediction: Club Brugge 1-2 Monaco

Given that they are in better form at this moment in time, we are prepared to back Monaco to take home all three points here. The Ligue 1 side do tend to leak goals though, and so we are also backing Brugge to get themselves on the scoresheet.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Monaco slight favourites with bookmakers

  • HOME: 13/8 (2.63) – 38.1%
  • DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
  • AWAY: 29/20 (2.45) – 40.8%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

As shown by the implied probabilities, Monaco are only slight favourites with bookmakers to claim all three points on their travels, rated just 2.7% above a Brugge victory on home soil. A draw can also be backed at just under 28%.

Most recent H2Hs: Brugge unbeaten

These two sides have only met twice before, interestingly also in the UCL back in 2018. Brugge were interestingly unbeaten in both of those matches, impressively beating Monaco 4-0 away from home while drawing 1-1 in Belgium.

Club Brugge preview: Injuries galore

Brugge have a number of players carrying niggling injuries heading into this clash, and so are unlikely to play a part. Romeo Vermant is certainly ruled out, while Hugo Vetlesen, Ludovit Reis and Joaquin Seys are all further doubts.

Predicted lineup: Mignolet (GK); Sabbe, Spileers, Mechele, Meijer; Onyedika, Stankovic; Forbs, Vanaken, Tzolis & Tresoldi

Last five results:

  • La Louviere 1-0 Club Brugge
  • Gent 1-1 Club Brugge
  • Club Brugge 6-0 Rangers
  • Rangers 1-3 Club Brugge
  • ZW 0-1 Club Brugge

Monaco preview: Key players still missing

First-choice goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is still injured for Monaco, while playmaker Aleksandr Golovin is also expected to miss out. Stanis Idumbo is also doubtful, while Paul Pogba is not expected to play until the next international break in October.

Predicted lineup: Kohn (GK); Teze, Dier, Salisu, Outtara; Zakaria, Camara; Akliouche, Biereth, Minamino & Balogun

Last five results:

  • Auxerre 1-2 Monaco
  • Monaco 3-2 Strasbourg
  • Lille 1-0 Monaco
  • Monaco 3-1 Le Havre
  • Monaco 1-2 Inter Milan

Player to watch: Takumi Minamino

Takumi Minamino is in fine goalscoring form right now, having helped Monaco win their previous two Ligue 1 matches with decisive goals in each. Brugge will do well to keep the Japan international forward quiet for the whole 90 minutes.
