Chile were favourites before the start of the South American campaign to qualify for the World Cup. However, as fate had it, they finished bottom of the table – one point behind Peru – after 11 defeats in 18 qualifiers.

Chile, thus, missed out on a first World Cup appearance since 2014, when they made it to the round of 16.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Chile are winless in six straight competitive games.

Following the qualifying campaign, they picked up pace, winning each of their last three international friendlies. They beat Peru 2-1 twice in that span, with Russia tasting a 2-0 loss in between.

Nicolas Cordova is expected to have a full-strength squad at his disposal, leaving no room for error as they look to go unbeaten in five.

Quite the opposite has happened with Cape Verde after their outstanding qualifying campaign. They met Iran and Egypt in consecutive friendlies, eventually losing both on penalties.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Cape Verde are on a seven-match unbeaten streak competitively.

In their qualification, the Creoles left behind Cameroon and Libya to claim top spot with 23 points – four more than the former.

Pedro Brito’s side are in the race against time to get into proper shape, before walking onto the biggest stage of them all.

Jamiro Monteiro is the only player missing for Bubista and co.

Two of Chile’s last three wins saw Over 2.5 total goals scored. At 4/5, this represents a value bet for the probable outcome.

Furthermore, two sides are well capable of netting in the strikes when it matters the most – making BTTS – Yes at 87/100 a valuable bet as well.

A Draw No Bet scenario in normal time gives Chile a 85.4% chance of winning at 1.17. At the same  time, Cape Verde carry bountiful returns as outright winners at 17/5.

Chile have started their last three matches poorly, before recovering in the second period. Five of their last six goals have come after the break – making Chile to win second-half at 2.00 a very likely outcome.
