Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s miserable start to the new season continued with yet another defeat. Collected a single point from their 10 league games so far and already look beyond saving. Not just that but Cheltenham are the only team in the top 4 divisions of English football yet to score a league goal.

Just before the last match sacked their manager and Darrell Clarke is now in charge of a seemingly impossible task.

Coming into midweek Cheltenham know that they must try and win a game of football soon if they want to avoid being left adrift from very early on.

The new manager continues to work with a seriously crippled squad and his options for rotation are limited now. Winger Olayinka remains suspended. Cheltenham also have 5 long-term absentees, with all 5 of them important squad members. Centre-back Horton and the team’s star striker Goodwin are the most notable of the injured players. Especially, the latter has been missed a lot as the zero goals in 10 rounds stat shows.

Predicted Lineup:

Southwood (GK), Long, Bevan, Freestone, Ferry, Bonds, Sercombe, Adshead, Keena, Street & Malcolm

Fleetwood

Fleetwood’s wait for their first win of the season ended on Saturday. The Cod Army edged Leyton Orient 1-0 at home in a scrappy and nervy game that could have gone either way. All that mattered was the result and now Fleetwood can start to build some momentum.

After losing 7 games in a row and changing managers Fleetwood are starting to show signs of life. They earned 4 points from their last 2 games and despite still being in the bottom 2 their mood has improved significantly.

The team’s defensive line remains badly crippled though. The two main wing-backs Montgomery and Rooney, as well as last season’s Player of the Season and by far best centre-back in the squad Wiredu-Sarpong are all missing and injured right now. In further issues in defence Johnston misses the coming match suspended. All this sees emergency signings Lawal and Heneghan thrown into the lineup straight away.

Predicted Lineup:

Lynch (GK), Lawal, Heneghan, Nsiala, Robertson, Quitirna, Vela, Broom, Earl, Omochere & Marriott

Starting Lineups

The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.
