Chelsea vs Wrexham Lineups, Match Preview, and Team Information
Chelsea
Since new owner Todd Boehly bought Chelsea there has been a massive player turnaround. There was a record number of signings and at the same time, an incredible amount of money being spent in building a whole new team. Chelsea had one of their worst seasons last year in recent memory and they will be without European football this fall and winter. That fact didn't stop the club management from spending money, they brought in Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, and Angelo this summer alone. However, there were also players leaving the club. Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Christian Pulisic to name a few. The team also has a new coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Provisional lineup: Arrizabalaga, Fofana, Badiashile, Chilwell, Gusto, Fernandez, Gallagher, Moreira, Madueke, Jackson, Nkunku.
Wrexham
The Welsh team is back in the EFL after a 14-year absence. The club has been transformed completely over the last few years after actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club. There is a whole different feel around the club especially with all the marketing around it and even a hit Netflix show about the team's ascension. However, regardless of the club's famous owners, it doesn't mean there will be big money spent on the team. There is only one new player at the club, Will Boyle arrived from Huddersfield. There were also quite a few departures with Louis Lloyd, Ryan Austin, Kai Calderbank-Park, Harry Lennon, and Jake Hyde leaving after their contracts expired.
Provisional lineup: Foster, Boyle, Tozer, McFadzean, Hosannah, Young, Cannon, Barnett, Forde, Watters, Bickerstaff.
Player to Watch: Christopher Nkunku
Of all the new players that Chelsea bought in the past six months or so, the fans could be most excited about the French international Christopher Nkunku. He was injured for part of last season missing the World Cup, but that didn't stop the London club from investing and paying a lot of money to RB Leipzig.
Nkunku played in 172 matches for the Bundesliga outfit scoring 70 goals and assisting 56 times. He was the Bundesliga player of the year during his time in Leipzig and there were plenty of clubs who were interested. However, Chelsea was the fastest. The 25-year-old has ten caps for the French national team under his belt but is still searching for his first goal.
Starting lineups
