Chelsea's season has been far from the one fans had anticipated after they won the Club World Cup in the summer, with Liam Rosenior's dismissal in April meaning the club are searching for their sixth permanent manager since September 2022.

Calum McFarlane has been appointed on an interim basis, and to his credit he did oversee a 1-0 win in the semi-final of the FA Cup against Leeds United on April 26.

That win was just the Londoners' second in nine games, and it was also just the second time they avoided defeat in that same period, though a loss on Monday would extend their losing streak in the Premier League to six matches.

Chelsea should still be taking Premier League games seriously as there is a chance that sixth place could be awarded a Champions League spot, though that would require Aston Villa to win the Europa League and finish fifth.

Considering captain Reece James is a doubt due to a hamstring issue, expect to see Malo Gusto stationed at right-back, and that would be his 24th start in the top flight this campaign.

Nottingham Forest are now five points ahead of the relegation zone, and it should be noted that 18th-placed Tottenham Hotspur face a difficult match against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Interestingly, Forest managed to beat Villa 1-0 on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie, though the return leg away to the Lions next Thursday is sure to be difficult.

Head coach Vítor Pereira may be tempted to make changes from the team that won last time out, with stars such as Chris Wood likely to be left on the bench on Monday.

If Forest get the better of the Blues at Stamford Bridge, they would end a winless streak of four clashes against their hosts, though defeat would be their fourth in five meetings.

Whispers predicts: Chelsea 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Chelsea may be the worst team in the league over the last five top-flight fixtures, but Forest will almost certainly have one eye on their Europa League tie, so a home win at 1.67 would be a smart bet.

Predicting Over 2.5 Goals - a prediction valued at 1.67 - may make some sense considering matches involving Forest have frequently featured at least three goals.

Chelsea have been poor defensively for some time, while Forest's record against the teams at the top of the table has been poor, so it may make sense to back Both Teams to Score at 1.7.

Though the hosts have often struggled in front of goal recently, their opponents have more often than not conceded two goals against the current top eight when playing away from home, meaning backing Chelsea to Score Over 1.5 Goals at 1.67 could be an inspired prediction.
