Chelsea have stuttered under Enzo Maresca thus far in pre-season and it's the performances which have been most disappointing, losing 4-1 at the hands of Celtic. The Blues are still without some key players and with Club America in the thick of their campaign, it could be another tough match.

Chelsea vs Club America Prediction: The Blues must step up
Key stats
- Chelsea are yet to win under Enzo Maresca
- The Blues are yet to score more than two goals in a match this summer
- Club America have won half of their opening four Liga MX matches
Correct score prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Club America
At some point, Chelsea have to click into gear under Maresca and we can see this game being the perfect opportunity. Club America have not had the best of starts to their domestic campaign so the Blues must show what they're capable of.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Maresca's men should have too much
- Home: 3/4 (1.75) – 57.1%
- Draw: 3/1 (4.0) – 25%
- Away: 16/5 (4.2) – 23.8%
Despite not looking overly impressive so far on their tour of America, Chelsea do have a very impressive squad and one which should have too much for their opponents. Naturally, it'll take time for Maresca to implement his ideas on this team, but he needs results to start looking more promising.
The fact Chelsea are without several regular starters we can see both teams getting on the scoresheet given the two sides are at different levels physically. Remember to check out our plethora of free betting tips to increase the value of your punts.
Most recent H2Hs: A slight advantage for Chelsea
Chelsea picked up a win in the only other time they've faced Club America in 2022. Goals that day came from two former Blues players in the form of Mason Mount and Timo Werner, so it's going to be a totally different outlook this time around.

Player to watch: Raheem Sterling
Having not started the pre-season defeat to Celtic, it would be a shock if Raheem Sterling was not given the nod by Maresca. The English winger enjoyed a steady campaign last time out with 18 goal involvements but has a lot of competition out wide.

Sterling is still only 29 years old so could prove to be a very useful player under Maresca this season, but he needs to fit into the system and get the winger in one-on-one situations.
