🔥 Our Hot tip

Over 3.5 total goals

The last five H2Hs have averaged four goals per game.

Both Chelsea and Brighton return to Premier League action this weekend after winning in the third round of the Carabao Cup in midweek. Indeed, the Blues triumphed 2-1 away at Lincoln, while the Seagulls thrashed Barnsley 6-0 on their travels.

However, both teams were winless in their last league fixture, with Chelsea going down 2-1 at Manchester United at Old Trafford, while Brighton were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham. Nonetheless, we are expecting an entertaining game.

Chelsea vs Brighton prediction: Seagulls to steal a point?

Key stats

  • Chelsea have only won once in four games in total in all competitions.
  • Brighton have lost just once in five matches across all competitions.
  • Four of the last five H2Hs have seen both teams score.

Correct score prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Brighton

Despite beating Lincoln, the League One side caused Chelsea plenty of problems, and after losing to United last weekend, they are not in the best of places. Brighton could take advantage of that, and having won the previous two H2Hs, they know how to take points off the Blues.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Chelsea clear favourites with bookmakers

  • HOME: 4/5 (1.80) – 55.6%
  • DRAW: 29/10 (3.90) – 25.6%
  • AWAY: 3/1 (4.00) – 25.0%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

As shown by the implied probabilities, Chelsea are the favourites with bookmakers to take all three points at Stamford Bridge. Interestingly, a draw and a Brighton victory are separated by just 0.6%.

Brighton have won the last two H2Hs between the two teams, but Chelsea won five prior to that. Based off of the most recent meetings, there is not much to separate them.

Last five results:

  • Lincoln 1-2 Chelsea

Brighton preview: Gomez to get start?

Diego Gomez will be knocking on his manager's door for a start after scoring four goals against Barnsley last time out, with a couple of spectacular strikes. Maxim De Cuyper will have to be assessed for Brighton though after coming off early with an injury last weekend.

Predicted lineup: Verbruggen (GK); Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Kadioglu; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Gomez, Mitoma & Rutter

Last five results:

  • Barnsley 0-6 Brighton
  • Brighton 2-2 Tottenham

Player to watch: Diego Gomez

After scoring four goals against Barnsley, Gomez is undoubtedly the player to watch. The attacking midfielder showed off his qualities, and so Brighton have a decision to make over whether to reward him with a start.
