Carlisle – Bristol Rovers preview: latest form, news, and potential lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted Carlisle vs Bristol Rovers lineups.

Carlisle

Carlisle’s return to League One hasn’t been the easiest so far. The Cumbrians rarely score more than 1 goal in their games and this explains why they struggle to find wins.

Another disappointment was suffered last weekend when Carlisle lost 1-3 vs Leyton Orient to exit the FA Cup at the first hurdle. Once again, very little threat was offered in attack.

The other bad news from this match was the serious injury to influential midfielder Guy. He is now set for a long spell out and his absence will be felt. This is a major problem as the other main figure in the middle of the park McCalmont remains suspended.

In better news, left-back Armer is back after serving his ban and the main centre-back Huntingdon has recovered from illness so he should be in contention too.

Predicted Lineup:

Holy (GK), Barclay, Lavelle, Mellish, Armer, Butterworth, Whelan, Moxon, Gibson, Garner & Maguire

Bristol Rovers

On Tuesday night Bristol came from behind to save a 1-1 away draw vs bottom-dwellers Reading. Played well after falling behind but needed to concede first before finding their rhythm.

Bristol continue to be under interim management. They are undefeated since the sacking of Joey Barton though (W1 D2).

Bristol continue to have serious selection problems. Influential inner midfielder Finley misses this trip as he is suspended. There are 5 players currently nursing injuries. From those that are not fully fit right-back Hunt and inner midfielder Ward are closest to being available.

In better news, Evans is back after a ban and he should start.

Predicted Lineup:

Cox (GK), Grant, Crama, Taylor, Friend, Bogarde, Evans, Vale, Thomas, Collins & Martin

Starting Lineups

The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.

Player to Watch: Chris Martin

Bristol Rovers added the 34-year-old striker Chris Martin to their ranks only recently. The veteran played only in the last 5 rounds but he became a key figure for the Gas very quickly.

Martin has now scored in 3 consecutive league games for Rovers. Can he continue his hot streak on Saturday?
