Wycombe – Cambridge preview: latest form, news, and potential lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted Wycombe vs Cambridge lineups.

Wycombe

Wycombe were very unlucky not to record their second win in the last five rounds when paying a visit to high-flyers Oxford. Wanderers came from behind to lead 2-1 in this match but then they got way too passive late on and conceded deep in stoppage time so the spoils were shared.

The main reason why Wycombe achieved only one win in the last five rounds is their shaky defence. They continue to score goals and create chances but at the back Low and Patenden had been in awful form lately. Between them, they were directly at fault for 4 of the last 6 conceded goals.

Unfortunately, the manager can hardly rotate in defence with 4 defenders missing and injured right now and the main right-back Forino-Joseph considered touch-and-go.

Josh Scowen returns after serving a ban though and he will boost the midfield line.

Predicted Lineup:

Stryjek (GK), Keogh, Low, Leahy, Patenden, Scowen, Potts, Boyes, Hanlan, Vokes & Taylor

Cambridge

Cambridge United were pleased to end their 8-game winless run on Saturday. It was far from an impressive display but all that mattered was the result. The U’s beat nine-man Carlisle 1-0 at home in a game full of nerves and ugly tackles.

Cambridge’s away form remains far from impressive and with only 2 goals scored in their last 5 away matches Bonner’s men struggle to make much of an impact when on the road.

The manager has no fresh injury concerns and only defender Dunk and the rarely-used striker Kachunga remain unavailable.

Predicted Lineup:

Stevens (GK), L. Bennett, Morrison, R. Bennett, Andrew, Cousins, Thomas, Brophy, Lankester, Kaikai & Ahadme

Starting Lineups

The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.

Player to Watch: Joe Low

Wycombe’s centre-back Joe Low is a man under pressure right now. Low starts a lot only because Wycombe are missing 4 centre-backs. Low’s individual mistakes led to 4 goals being conceded in the last 4 rounds so his shaky form is something opponents tend to target right now.

Only if Low can rise up to the challenge and starts performing better Wycombe will start keeping clean sheets again.
