Burton

Burton made a slow start to the season but they have turned things around in recent weeks and are now undefeated in their last 5 matches. On Tuesday the Brewers made it back-to-back league wins when they edged Wigan 2-1 at home. Powell’s second-half brace was enough for the win and the aggressive midfielder has now scored 3 goals in his last 3 starts.

The Brewers are playing well lately and they lost just 2 of their last 8 games (W2 D4).

Starting striker Lubala misses this match due to a suspension. In his absence, Walker could be given another chance to impress but he is yet to score this season.

Burton have even more serious issues in defence where their two best players are missing. Captain Brayford and Moon remain sidelined and in their absence, Hamer and Sweeney are starting a lot.

Predicted Lineup:

Crocombe (GK), Hamer, Hughes, Sweeney, Seddon, Bennett, Oshilaja, Powell, Helm, Gordon & Walker

Cambridge

Cambridge were humiliated at home last Tuesday. They lost 0-4 vs Barnsley in a game that saw the hosts offer their worst display of the season. The defensive part of the display was awful. The result extended the winless run to 5 (D2 L3).

Cambridge also lost their last away game vs Burton, back in May they were beaten 0-1 at the Pirelli Stadium.

Important defenders Haunstrup and Dunk remain unavailable. Winger Kachunga is also missing the game injured. In better news Janneh and Kaikai should be able to recover from minor problems on time and at least be options off the bench.

Predicted Lineup:

Mannion (GK), Okedina, Morrison, Benett, Andrew, Digby, Thomas, Brophy, Fejiri, Lankester & Ahadme

Player to Watch: Joshua Walker

Burton signed 22-year-old Joshua Walker last January with the idea that he would be their big star up front. Walker had a promising start to his Burton career but then a series of injuries, the last one this August, saw his playing time seriously reduced.

Walker is yet to score this season and he looked rusty in the last few weeks after recovering from yet another injury. He is now likely to start with Lubala suspended and all eyes will be on him if he can resurrect his faltering Burton career. Sometimes all it takes is one goal.
