Bristol City will take on Newcastle United on Wednesday, 29 July, as both teams continue their preparations for the beginning of the new English football season next month.
Neither side had the kind of season they hoped for in 2025/26, which makes this a big summer for both clubs as they look to bounce back in 2026/27.

It has been a miserable summer of Newcastle United so far off the pitch, with the Magpies losing a couple of big players, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, in big-money moves.
The bad news may not end there for Eddie Howe, though, as Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Hall continue to be linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United, respectively, which could leave his team starting the new season with a blank canvas.
Newcastle have elected to replace their outgoing stars with young talent, rather than experienced pros, so there may have to be some patience at St James' Park this season while the new boys adjust to life in the Premier League.
So far, pre-season has been okay, with one win and one draw, although Bristol City will represent their toughest test yet, making this match worth watching if you're a Newcastle supporter.
In terms of player selection, Howe remains without all players who competed at the World Cup, which means no Guimaraes, Yoane Wissa, Anthony Elanga, Malick Thiaw, Nick Woltemade or Dan Burn.
As for Bristol City, this match is just one of the two games they will play on Wednesday evening, as they are also pencilled in for a clash with Forest Green Rovers.
It's fair to assume they will take this one more seriously, with youth players expected to make up the bulk of the team against Forest Green.
It's another fresh start for the Robins as they continue to search for promotion to the Premier League. Michael Skubala is the new man in the hot seat at Ashton Gate, and he will be hoping for more of the same from his players after they beat Swindon Town 3-1 last time out.
