Brest return to action on Sunday looking to make it back-to-back Ligue 1 wins for the first time this season to climb the table.

After a 12th-placed finish in 2025-26, they currently sit 11th on 12 points from nine games, winning three, drawing three and losing three of those, while most of their good work has come away with their four home matches producing four points.

While Les Pirates have shone going forward, scoring 16 goals in their nine outings, they have kept just one clean sheet thus far which came last time out in a visit to Lorient.

Julien Lachuer's side bounced back from a home loss to Nice with a 2-0 triumph last weekend thanks to goals from Ludovic Ajorque and Noah Edjouma.

Now with renewed confidence from that victory but the need to correct a disappointing home record early in the term, and with Raphael Le Guen and Brendan Chardonnet sidelined by injuries, they will now aim to make it consecutive three-point hauls with a chance to break into the top half.

Their visitors are also in search of back-to-back wins for the first time in Ligue 1 this term despite their lofty position.

Lyon have made a fast start to 2026-27, earning 17 points from their first nine games to sit third courtesy of five victories alongside just two defeats.

Les Gones' success has been built on a strong defensive record, with only second-placed Lille conceding fewer than the seven goals they have allowed with Lyon sat a point behind Lille and three off leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

On the back of an away defeat to PSG, making it two losses in four away league matches this term, they hosted Angers last weekend and won 2-0, only for Paulo Fonseca to depart for Sporting Lisbon, with Jorge Maciel to take temporary charge for Wednesday's Champions League trip to Real Sociedad in which Les Gones drew 1-1 thanks to Corentin Tolisso's leveller.

Still under Maciel while the hunt for a permanent replacement for Fonseca continues, and fresh off a tough European clash with Ernest Nuamah a fresh injury doubt alongside Tyler Morton, Lois Openda, Pavel Sulc, Mohamadi Ouedraogo and Steeve Kango, Lyon will hope to narrow their gap to top spot with an away victory at the weekend.

Whispers predicts: Brest 1-1 Lyon

Both Teams to Score has landed in three of four of Brest's home league games this season, and while it has only landed in one of Lyon's away Ligue 1 matches, they are on the back of a tough midweek Champions League game and take on one of the division's most dangerous attacks. We fancy Both Teams to Score at 7/10 (1.70).

Lyon are fancied as slight favourites thanks to their strong start to the campaign, but they have not yet won back-to-back league matches, have only won once away from home and face a quick turnaround from their draw against Real Sociedad. With injuries mounting and Fonseca having departed we see Sunday's trip as a tough task and opt for Brest or Draw in the Double Chance market at 8/15 (1.53).

Neither team have regularly picked up cards in Ligue 1 so far this season, being shown 13 and 11 respectively in nine games. We anticipate a low corner count and back under 4.5 cards at 4/6 (1.67).
