Brann's 2-1 defeat against Kristiansund in a friendly match last week was their fourth loss in five matches. The hosts have been beaten in three consecutive league games, which has seen them drop to 11th in the 16-team Eliteserien table.

On the positive side, Eirik Horneland’s troops have won three of their last four competitive home games.

However, the Red Shirts have been plagued by injuries, with up to seven players sidelined for this encounter. This includes Thore Pedersen (dislocated elbow), Sakarias Opsahl (foot), Niklas Castro (Achilles tendon), Mathias Dyngeland (thigh), Jacob Lungi Sorensen (ankle), Eggert Aron Gudmundsson (knee), and Denzel De Roeve (unspecified injury).

On the other hand, Start are coming off a humiliating 4-0 friendly defeat against Bodo/Glimt. This has not been a particularly pleasant campaign for the visitors, as they have a 1-4-7 win-draw-loss record in 12 league matches.

Moreover, Start have been the worst travellers in the Eliteserien this season, having lost six of their seven away matches (D1). In fact, Azar Karadas’s men have conceded three goals on average on the road.

There are a couple of injury absences for the visitors, as defenders Johan Meyer (groin) and Kristoffer Tonnessen (leg) will not be available for selection.

It is worth mentioning that Brand won the last two encounters between these sides and have not lost any of their last eight competitive clashes.

However, the last meeting between these sides took place in August 2022, when they both played in the 1st Division, and their last skirmish in the Norwegian top flight was in December 2020.

Whispers Predicts: Brann 3-1 Start

At 9/20 (1.45), Brann are considered favourites by the bookmakers. Although the hosts have had their fair share of struggles, they are up against the league's worst travellers.

Keeping in mind that Start have a 0-1-6 win-draw-loss record on the road, we are confident that Brann will emerge victorious after 90 minutes.

We should also expect a high-scoring affair, as three or more goals were scored in each of Brann’s last nine matches and in four of Start's last five games.

Considering that Brann's last eight fixtures all saw BTTS, we also fancy Brann & BTTS – Yes at 8/5 (2.60).
