Borussia Dortmund find themselves in the unusual position of leading the Bundesliga after four matchweeks, with the club two points ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich.

The fact that BVB play on Friday means they can move five points ahead of their rivals before they face fourth-placed Augsburg on Saturday.

Boss Niko Kovac will hope that his side can maintain their winning momentum considering they have won each of their last six games in all competitions.

Black and Yellow unfortunately did not come out of the international break unscathed, with defenders Nico Schlotterbeck and Julian Ryerson both doubts for their clash on Friday.

Perhaps Ramy Bensebaini and Luca Reggiani will be trusted in the duo's absence, though it remains to be seen how well the latter would cope in a wing-back role.

Werder Bremen's start to the campaign has been significantly better than in 2025-26 given it took seven games to reach seven points that season, while they have conceded six goals fewer (eight).

Manager Daniel Thioune oversaw a 3-2 victory against Augsburg before the international break, and that was the third consecutive match in which his side avoided defeat (W2, D1).

The Green-Whites come into Friday's fixture having failed to win any of their last five away Bundesliga clashes, losing three times, with the club taking one point from their two league outings on the road this term.

Bremen know they will not be able to call upon strikers Justin Njinmah (thigh), Keke Topp (ACL) and Salim Musah (thigh), though Niclas Fullkrug is ready to feature.

Whispers predicts: Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Werder Bremen

With the hosts having enjoyed an exceptional start to the season, it comes as no surprise to see the bookmakers price a Dortmund victory at 1/3 (1.33).

Given Borussia Dortmund have scored at least three goals in four of their last six home games, it makes sense to predict Over 2.5 Goals for Borussia Dortmund at 10/11 (1.91).

Werder Bremen have failed to score in five of their last seven meetings with Dortmund, meaning there could be value in betting Under 0.5 Goals for Werder Bremen at 11/8 (2.38).

Dortmund's Beier has registered two assists in his past four Bundesliga games, so perhaps it would be worthwhile to back Maximilian Beier to Assist at 3/1 (4).

📈 Borussia Dortmund vs. Werder Bremen — Whispers' Tips
