Bolton
Despite being badly crippled for their trip to Vale Park on Saturday the Trotters still found a way to edge hosts Port Vale 1-0. It was a very composed defensive showing and the Trotters kept yet another clean sheet.
Bolton are enjoying a solid start to the season and despite the constant selection issues and the many absentees in defence, they keep getting good results.
Once again the three main centre-backs will be missing. Santos and Johnston are in rehabilitation, while Jones remains suspended for two more matches. Wingers Gomes and Maghoma also remain unavailable due to injuries but Thomason is back after suspension and could start.
Predicted Lineup:
Baxter (GK), Toal, Forrester, Iredale, Dacres-Cogley, Morley, Thomason, Williams, Dempsey, Adeboyejo & Charles
Stevenage
The Stags suffered their first home defeat of the campaign last Saturday. They lost 1-3 vs leaders Oxford. Didn’t play that badly but had issues in defence when asked to track runners from deep.
This has been a weakness for Stevenage and they often concede goals when unable to track back midfielders that join the attacks.
All that said Stevenage are enjoying an excellent start to the season and they remain close to the top spots.
Stevenage’s inability to track back runners can be explained by the fact that the two main wing-backs Anderson and Smith are sidelined right now. Both have been missed a lot. At least, those are the only health issues in the squad so some rotation is possible.
Predicted Lineup:
Hegyi (GK), Sweeney, Thompson, Piergianni, James-Wildin, Burns, Freeman, Butler, Roberts, Reid & Hemmings
Starting Lineups
The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.
