Bolivia suffered heartbreak in the World Cup play-off finals as they agonisingly lost out 2-1 to Iraq, meaning their 32-year wait to appear at the tournament goes on.
Focus for Oscar Villegas' side will now turn to the 2028 Copa America as the next major tournament they can make a name in.
The squad chosen for the friendly against Scotland is relatively inexperienced compared to previous ones, with as many as four uncapped players as Villegas looks towards the new generation.
Everyone is fit and available at the time of writing, meaning he can put his strongest side out and give Scotland a real test.
As for the Scots themselves, they will be playing in their first World Cup since 1998, but face a tough group containing record five-time winners Brazil, AFCON winners and 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Morocco and Haiti, who beat new Zealand 4-0 in their most recent friendly.
They started preparations for the tournament with a convincing 4-1 friendly win against Curacao, who will also be participating at the World Cup.
Steve Clarke's side boasts plenty of star names like Napoli's Scott McTominay and Aston Villa's John McGinn, whose quality could make the difference here against Bolivia.
Billy Gilmour is their only potential absentee through injury, so Scotland are also expected to field a strong starting line-up.

Whispers predicts: Bolivia 1-2 Scotland
Scotland are 41/100 (1.41) favourites to win, but while we agree with the bookies, these odds are too short for us to back.
Instead, our first pick is BTTS – Yes at 17/20 (1.85), which came through in both teams' last outings.
Our next bet focuses on Ryan Christie, who scored and assisted against Curacao.
A player who sometimes goes under the radar with the likes of McTominay and McGinn in the side, we are backing Christie to score or assist at 17/10 (2.70).
Our final punt focuses on corners, with over 9.5 taken in Scotland's previous six matches.
Over 9.5 corners at 11/8 (2.38) therefore has appeal in our eyes, while our prediction of a 2-1 Scotland victory can also be backed at 15/2 (8.50).
> BTTS – Yes at 17/20 (1.85) | Likelihood: Probable
> Over 9.5 corners at 11/8 (2.38) | Likelihood: Possible
> Christie to score or assist at 17/10 (2.70) | Likelihood: Possible
