Biggest transfer profits of all time: Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers break into top five

Footballers come and go at clubs, but which players have yielded the biggest transfer profits of all time?

Two of the top five in this list were sold this summer, while the other three all involve Barcelona.

It should be noted that we have not included academy graduates that were sold for big money like Kylian Mbappe and Jack Grealish, as they were not bought in the first place.

5) Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest to Manchester City) – £81m profit

Breaking into the top five is Elliot Anderson after he was sold to Manchester City this summer for an £81m profit.

The Cityzens paid £116m to sign him from Nottingham Forest, after the Tricky Trees had originally paid £35m to buy him from Newcastle United.

Only time will tell whether Anderson will be worth the money, but his standout performances for Forest last season certainly pay for a large chunk of his fee, while he is now a full England international and a regular for the Three Lions.

4) Ousmane Dembele (Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona) – £85.9m profit

In fourth is the current Ballon d'Or holder in Ousmane Dembele, now a two-time Champions League winner with Paris Saint-Germain.

He made a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund, where he was bought for £30m, before being sold to Barcelona for an £85.9m profit.

A total of £115.9m was the fee Barca paid, and while he may not have felt worth that in Spain, he certainly does in France now.

3) Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa to Chelsea) – £101.5m profit

After his £117m move to Chelsea this summer, Morgan Rogers breaks into the top five in third place.

Indeed, Aston Villa originally bought him for just £15.5m from Middlesbrough, and sold him on for a £101.5m profit.

Only time will tell whether Rogers ends up being worth the fee, but similar to Anderson, he comes off the back of an impressive campaign with Villa, which saw him play at the World Cup with England.

2) Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool to Barcelona) – £104.7m profit

Just missing out on top spot is Philippe Coutinho after he was sold by Liverpool to Barcelona for £115.9m.

After originally buying him for a mere £11.2m at the time, the Reds made a tasty £104.7m profit.

Sadly, Coutinho failed to live up to his hype in Spain, after impressing so much in the Premier League.

1) Neymar (Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain) – £114.5m profit

The player who has yielded the biggest transfer profits of all time is Neymar, when he moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for what remains a world-record £190m fee.

Having originally been bought for £75.5m, Barca managed to make a staggering £114.5m profit on his sale.

While Neymar showed glimpses of his world-class ability in Paris, helping PSG win multiple domestic trophies, he could not deliver the Champions League for them, and ironically after he left, the Parisians have managed to win it twice.
