Bayer Leverkusen return to Bundesliga proceedings following a 5-2 win over second-tier Nurnberg, six days after their shocking 3-0 defeat to Hoffenheim.

Nonetheless, Carles Martinez Novell has kicked off his Leverkusen career to an impressive start, going unbeaten in five of his seven league games in charge.

What’s more impressive is their form on home turf – unbeaten in seven straight since early May. This season, Leverkusen have recorded five consecutive home wins, although they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their latest two.

More than a handful of players are sidelined for the hosts, including Moussa Diaby, Loic Bade, Martin Terrier and Eliesse Ben Seghir.

On the other hand, Stuttgart have struggled in the top-flight, losing five of their seven fixtures so far. Unfortunately, the last time this happened they were relegated, in the 2015/16 season.

Another loss here would push the visitors deep inside the drop zone, given Schalke and Union Berlin pull victories in their respective fixtures.

Five players are confirmed absent for the Reds: Leo Sauer, Josha Vagnoman, Tiago Tomas, Justin Diehl and Dan Axel Zagadou

Whispers predicts: Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Stuttgart

According to Bet365, backing BTTS – No at 23/10 (3.30) is of significant value. None of Stuttgart’s last four away games, and only two of Leverkusen’s last five competitive home games, saw both teams score.

Under 3.5 total goals at 4/5 (1.80) offers considerable dividends as well. Three of Leverkusen’s seven league games this term, and four of Stuttgart’s, have stayed under the mark. Given Leverkusen’s recent thrashing at Hoffenheim, one can expect Stuttgart to keep the damage at a minimum.

Over 10.5 total corners at 1/1 (2.00) is worth following, given Leverkusen have won the second-most corners in the Bundesliga this season (47). That averages to 6.71 corners per game. With Stuttgart’s high corner volume as well, this particular stat looks very strong.
