Barnsley
Barnsley opened their season with a 7-0 home win vs Port Vale. They haven’t won since that game though and on Tuesday suffered their first defeat. Despite taking an early lead and dominating large periods of their home match vs Peterborough the Tykes lost 1-3.
The forward actions have been good so far. Devante Cole is starting the season very well and he has 3 goals in as many rounds.
Have some injury issues. There are currently 6 players in the squad that are either sidelined or doubtful. None of them regular starters though so the overall strength of the team is not damaged much.
Barnsley Predicted Lineup:
Roberts (GK), Williams, Lopata, Kitching, Cotter, Kane, Phillips, Cadden, Styles, Dallas & Cole
Oxford United
After barely avoiding the drop last season Oxford are making a much better impression so far this term. On Tuesday they showed efficiency on their visit to Derby to win 2-1. Took their chances well and defended very well for the best part of 90 minutes.
Harris scored both goals for the U’s on Tuesday and he has been the go-to-man up front so far this season.
Harris needs to continue playing well as the other 2 main strikers in the squad Murphy and Henry are battling injuries and won’t be available. Thorniley is also missing as an option from the defensive line, he’s having calf issues.
Oxford Predicted Lineup:
Beadle (GK), Long, Moore, Negru, Brown, Brannagan, McGuane, Browne, Rodrigues, Bodin & Harris
Starting Lineups
The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.
Player to Watch: James Beadle
Oxford’s goalie James Beadle was the main reason why the U’s won 2 of 3 league games so far. He has made some outstanding saves already this season and we think if Oxford are to stand any chance of earning something from this game he will have to be at his best again.
