France are one of the favourites to win Euro 2024 but they will have to negotiate possibly the toughest group in Germany which includes the Netherlands, Poland and Monday's opponents Austria.

Didier Deschamps' side is very well-balanced and will be led in attack by the new Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappé who scored eight goals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Austria are well organised and have plenty of experience in their side but getting out of Group D is going to be difficult, especially if they get off to a losing start against France.

Austria preview: In good form

Austria ended their Euro 2024 warm-up with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, making it seven games without defeats heading into this summer's big tournament.

While it's going to be difficult for Austria to get out of this ‘group of death', there is enough talent in Ralf Rangnick's side to cause an upset or two, particularly in midfield where Marcel Sabitzer and Christoph Baumgartner both offer a goal threat.

Predicted lineup: Lindner (GK), Wöber, Trauner, Danso, Posch, Kainz, Laimer, Baumgartner, Sabitzer, Arnautović & Gregoritsch

France preview: Could go all the way

France played out a goalless draw with Canada in their final friendly before heading out to Germany for the Euros.

We all know how good Didier Deschamps' side is as they proved by making it to the 2022 World Cup final where they narrowly lost out to Lionel Messi's Argentina.

Kylian Mbappé will earn his 80th cap if he plays any part against Austria on Monday and having scored eight goals in Qatar, you wouldn't bet against the Real Madrid forward top scoring in Germany.

Predicted lineup: Samba (GK), L. Hernández, Pavard, Upamecano, Koundé, Kante, Camavinga, Dembele, Giroud, Griezmann & Mbappé

Player to watch – Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé put an end to the worst-kept secret in world football when he announced that he would be signing for Real Madrid this summer following the end of his contract with PSG.

With all that behind him, Mbappe can now concentrate on the Euros where he will be desperate to guide France to glory after coming so close at the 2022 World Cup.

With 47 goals in 79 caps, Mbappe so often performs on the big stage for his country and we're expecting more of the same in Germany. The 25-year-old came off the bench in France's final warm-up game against Canada which ended goalless, so he will be fit and ready to start against Austria.

Will Real Madrid's new signing star against Austria?

While Mbappe is an obvious choice for the player to watch in this game, we can't think of a better player to focus on than France's potential match-winner who scored against Austria in the 2022 Nations League.
