Austin entered the World Cup break in dismal form, losing three successive matches, two of them by conceding at least three goals. That confirmed the exit of Nico Estevez, who had held the managerial position for nearly two years.

Davy Arnaud’s first match and Austin’s latest ended 3-0 in favour of St. Louis City as the club failed to build upon their three point lead over bottom-placed Sporting Kansas City.
