Auckland have enjoyed a remarkable rise, having topped the A-League table in their inaugural season, but they fell short of the championship in the play-offs.

However, they responded by lifting the A-League Championship the following season.

Steve Corica's side finished third in the regular-season standings before producing an outstanding post-season run.

They eliminated Melbourne City on penalties, thrashing Adelaide United 4-1, and edged Sydney FC 1-0 in the Grand Final to secure the club's first championship.

With the next A-League campaign still several months away, Sunday's encounter offers Auckland a valuable opportunity to test themselves against elite opposition and continue building towards another title challenge.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have already begun preparations for the new Premier League season.

De Zerbi enjoyed a winning start to his reign as the new Spurs manager following the sacking of Igor Tudor at the end of last season.

The North London team had a disappointing campaign, ending the season in 17th position, two points away from being relegated.

Following their poor performance last season, Spurs will be looking to improve on their 17th-placed finish in the Premier League.

They have started preparation for the new campaign by defeating MK Dons 1-0, with summer recruit Mateus Fernandes scoring the only goal in an encouraging first outing.

They will now face the Australian side Auckland in their second pre-season friendly, with the hope of getting another win.

Whispers predicts: Auckland FC 0-2 Tottenham

Tottenham are favourites to win this encounter, having started their pre-season friendly game with a victory.

With their second game set against Auckland FC, a win will see them build momentum for the new season.

However, Auckland are no pushovers, as they are coming off a good season and will be motivated by the energetic home crowd at Eden Park.

Despite this, we still expect the visitors to secure a comfortable 0-2 victory due to the quality in their team.

Bookmakers have yet to release odds for the pre-season friendly clash between Auckland FC and Tottenham ahead of the game.
