Atletico Madrid are coming off a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. Prior to that loss, they were on a nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Diego Simeone's troops will now turn their attention to La Liga, where they trail leaders Barcelona by only two points. A victory here ensures the top spot for the hosts ahead of the international break.

Interestingly, Los Colchoneros have been the most in-form team in the Spanish top flight, having won seven consecutive league outings. They have kept five clean sheets during that stretch and have conceded fewer goals (8) than any other team in the league this season.

Cristian Romero is nursing a muscle injury and remains the only absentee for the hosts.

On the other hand, Barcelona cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in their midweek Champions League clash.

Following back-to-back defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Hansi Flick's men have rebounded with back-to-back wins, scoring nine goals in the process.

The Catalan side are only three points ahead of third placed Real Madrid, and having already lost to Los Blancos this season, Barcelona could potentially fall to third place ahead of the international window if they lose this fixture.

Raphinha is expected to lead the charge once again; the Brazilian is on a three-game scoring run and leads the race for the Pichichi with 15 goals. Rodri is dealing with a hamstring injury and joins Dani Olmo (thigh), Jules Kounde (sprained ankle), Xavi Espart (ankle), and Roony Bardghji (ACL) in the recovery room.

Barcelona also have an excellent track record against Atletico, as they have won eight of the last nine H2Hs in this competition and have six wins in their last seven trips to this stadium.

Whispers Predicts: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Barcelona

Priced at 17/20 (1.85), Barcelona are considered favourites by the bookmakers ahead of this clash.

While the visitors have been the best team in this competition, Atletico Madrid have been a tough team to beat, and should be able to hold their own at home.

The hosts' last six matches have all gone below the 2.5-goal line, and this can be backed at 13/5 (3.60).

We also fancy Raphinha to score anytime at 8/11 (1.73). The Brazilian has found the net in three consecutive matches.
