Arsenal to win & BTTS

Both teams have scored in five of their last six games.

Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium to face Sunderland in the Premier League after beating Chelsea 1-0 in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final in midweek. The Gunners won 4-2 on aggregate overall to book a place at Wembley Stadium in the final against Manchester City.

In the Premier League, Arsenal extended their lead to City at the top of the table to six points after beating Leeds 4-0 away from home last time out. Meanwhile, Sunderland also recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory at home to Burnley, but the Emirates poses a much bigger test for the Black Cats.

Arsenal vs Sunderland prediction: Gunners to go nine clear?

Key stats

  • Arsenal have won four of their last five games in all competitions.
  • Sunderland are winless in seven away league matches, losing four.
  • Arsenal are also unbeaten in 13 previous H2Hs, winning nine.

Correct score prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Sunderland

Arsenal should have few problems on home soil against a Sunderland side who have struggled on their travels. The Black Cats are relatively free-scoring though, and so could at least get on the scoresheet at the Emirates.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Arsenal almighty favourites with bookmakers

  • HOME: 1/4 (1.25) – 80.0%
  • DRAW: 11/2 (6.50) – 15.4%
  • AWAY: 10/1 (11.00) – 9.1%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

As shown by the implied probabilities, Arsenal have been installed as the big favourites with bookmakers to claim all three points against Sunderland. A draw can still be backed at just over 15%, but a Black Cats win is deemed highly unlikely at just over 9%.

Kai Havertz scored the winning goal against ex-club Chelsea, and now has two goals in his last three appearances. Mikel Arteta may be tempted to use him from the start against Sunderland.
