Arsenal preview: Having a quiet transfer window

Mikel Arteta's side have looked decent during pre-season with wins against Leverkusen and Manchester United, a draw with Bournemouth and a narrow defeat to Liverpool.

The Gunners spent big to sign Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori this summer following some impressive displays for Italy at Euro 2024. David Raya has made his loan move permanent this summer, while the big outgoing transfer saw Emile Smith Rowe join Fulham for around £30m.

Mohamed Elneny and Arthur Okonkwo have both left the club on free transfers, while Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Taveres have both gone out on loan deals.

Predicted lineup: Raya (GK), Zinchenko, Calafiori, White, Saliba, Rice, Ødegaard, Havertz, Saka, Martinelli & Jesus

Still only 22, Calafiori has made five appearances for the Italian national team and was part of the squad that played in Germany at Euro 2024.

Will the young Italian make the grade in the Premier League?

There have been some injury doubts for the Gunner's new signing but manager Mikel Arteta hopes that he will be ready to make his debut on Sunday.
