With Bradley Barcola's future at PSG far from certain this summer, the French club have turned their attention to Arsenal‘s Gabriel Martinelli, who has seen his standing slip at the Emirates.

Fresh from securing a second consecutive Champions League crown, PSG are set to turn their focus more seriously to the summer transfer window. Sporting director Luis Campos has four major tasks to address in the coming weeks, among them the future of 23-year-old Barcola. With his contract running until June 2028, the Frenchman is understood to be frustrated by his role as a luxury substitute within the squad.

Attracting interest from the Premier League — notably Arsenal and Liverpool — the left winger could depart PSG this summer, and if he does, the champions will need a replacement. The identity of that successor remains unclear, with Maghnes Akliouche of Monaco being tracked as an option on the right flank.

PSG make enquiries over Martinelli

As reported by TEAMtalk, PSG have recently made enquiries about the situation surrounding Martinelli. The 24-year-old Brazilian, once a key figure in the Gunners squad, has lost ground this season. While the left winger featured frequently — 53 appearances — he has largely served as a backup to Leandro Trossard under Mikel Arteta. The Belgian made 50 appearances but accumulated approximately 500 more minutes on the pitch.

Tied to the Premier League champions until June 2027, the Brazil international could be sold this summer to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months. Arsenal have not yet reached a definitive decision regarding their number 11, with an option to extend his deal by a further year still available. It is worth noting that Trossard is also entering the final year of his contract, a departure for the Belgian could strengthen the case for keeping the Brazilian at the Emirates.

Stiff competition for PSG in the Martinelli race

Bayern Munich are also interested in Martinelli. The German club are looking to recruit an additional forward capable of operating on the left flank, with Luis Diaz having enjoyed an outstanding campaign but lacking a direct competitor for his position.

Atletico Madrid, long-time admirers of the Gunners forward, remain in the background too, although their winter signing of Nigeria international Ademola Lookman for approximately £30 million (€35 million) has reduced the urgency of adding another left-sided attacker at a similar price.

PSG therefore face significant competition for Martinelli, and the entire pursuit is closely linked to the Barcola situation. Should the Frenchman agree to a contract extension in Paris, the trail leading to the Arsenal man would likely go cold.
