Sunday's clash between second-placed Anderlecht and the league leaders Union Saint-Gillois feels like it could all but settle this season's title race. Anderlecht trail Union SG by eight points so defeat on Sunday would surely leave too much of a gap between the two clubs considering how well the visitors have performed so far this season.

Anderlecht vs Union Saint-Gilloise prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Union Saint-Gilloise to Win

  • Union Saint-Gilloise have won each of their last seven encounters with Anderlecht.
  • The visitors have won five of their last six matches in all competitions.

Another reason that we have backed Union Saint-Gilloise to win as our main prediction is that Anderlecht have only managed to win two of their last six competitive and non-competitive matches in all competitions.

Anderlecht vs Saint Gilloise

Anderlecht vs Union Saint-Gilloise team news

Anderlecht

Anderlecht dropped points in their last game away at Leuven. The Belgian giants fell behind in the tenth minute and although Louis Patris got Anderlecht back onto level terms in the seventieth minute, the visitors failed to carve out a winning goal and had to settle for a point.

Amadou Diawara and Majeed Ashimeru are away on international duty, while Moussa N'Diaye, Killian Sardella, Thomas Delaney and Francis Amuzu could all miss Sunday's big game due to injury.

Predicted Lineup: Schmeichel (GK), Vertonghen, Augustinsson, Debast, Patris, Rits, Hazard, Dreyer, Leoni, Verschaeren & Dolberg

Union SG

Union went 1-0 down at home to Sint-Truiden but battled back to secure all three points in what felt like a season-defining victory. Ross Sykes equalised for the home side in first-half stoppage time and deep into second-half injury time, Kevin Rodriguez won the game for Union SG in dramatic style.

Thierry Lazare and Mohamed Amoura are unavailable while Cameron Puertas has an injury that could keep him out of the trip to Anderlecht this weekend.

Predicted Lineup: Lindner (GK), Burgess, Mac Allister, Sykes, Sadiki, Rasmussen, Castro-Montes, Kabangu, Eckert Ayensa, Nilsson & Terho

Player to Watch: Dennis-Yerai Eckert-Ayensa

Union SG's German forward Dennis-Yerai Eckert Ayensa has always been a main starter this season but when he has played, the 27-year-old has proved his worth.

Eckert-Ayensa has chipped in with six league goals in just ten starts for Union SG this season and while Mohammed Amoura is away on international duty, the German forward could play a big role this weekend in a huge game against Anderlecht.

This is only Eckert Ayensa's second season in Belgium since making the move from Ingolstadt and while he might not be a fan's favourite, the forward is a very good squad player with the ability to score goals and win games.
