Ajax vs Telstar predictions: Both teams to find the net
Key stats
- Six of Ajax's last seven matches featured goals at both ends.
- Telstar have lost their last six meetings with Ajax.
- At least four goals were scored in three of Ajax's last four games.
Correct score prediction: Ajax 3-1 Telstar
Telstar are in high spirits ahead of this clash, after winning 11 of their last 15 games across all competitions (D3, L1). However, compared to the teams they have faced in that stretch, Ajax are a much bigger fish to fry.
The 36-time Eredivisie champions are unbeaten in their last seven home games, scoring over three goals per game on average. They have hosted Telstar on 18 occasions and won 16 of them (D1, L1).
All things considered, anything other than a victory for Ajax would be a surprise.

Ajax preview: No injury concerns
Ajax had a comfortable nine-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie table with five games left to play last season. However, they had a poor run of results, winning only one of their remaining five matches and losing the Eredivisie title to arch-rivals PSV Eindhoven in heartbreaking fashion.
The disappointment of not winning the league cost Francesco Farioli his job, and his replacement, Johnny Heitinga, will now work to return Ajax to the apex of the Dutch top flight this campaign.
Vitezslav Jaros is expected to start in goal for the hosts. Jorthy Mokio and Kenneth Taylor are favoured to be the double pivots, with captain Davy Klaassen tasked to operate just behind the lone striker, which could either be Wout Weghorst or Brian Brobbey.
Steven Berghuis and Raul Moro are expected to play out wide, while drifting into the middle occasionally to support Klaassen in a 4-2-3-1 system.
Predicted lineup: Jaros (GK), Regeer, Bouwman, Baas, Wijndal, Mokio, Taylor, Klaassen, Moro, Berghuis & Brobbey.

Telstar preview: Eyeing their biggest win in over 50 years
Last season, Telstar finished seventh in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. However, despite being one of the lowest-ranked teams in the promotion playoffs, they reigned supreme, returning to the Dutch top flight for the first time since 1978.
Coach Anthony Correia could decide to go with his usual 3-4-2-1 formation which served him well last campaign, utilising a three-man backline likely to be Devon Koswal, Danny Bakker and Jeff Hardeveld, while summer signing Milan Zonneveld plays as the lone striker.
Predicted lineup: Koeman Jr (GK), Koswal, Bakker, Hardeveld, Rossen, Offerhaus, Owusu, Noslin, Brouwer, Hetly & Zonneveld.
