Ajax are unbeaten in the last four meetings against PSV.

While the most recent edition of the historic De Topper has no bearing on the destination of the Eredivisie title, both Ajax and PSV Eindhoven will be keen to get one over each other on Saturday.

The visitors were confirmed champions earlier this month and face little pressure this weekend against the hosts, who are currently embroiled in a four-team battle for two Champions League spots.

PSV could have been forgiven for taking their foot off the gas after mathematically clinching the title, but Thursday's emphatic 6-1 demolition of PEC Zwolle showed the champions are not easing off just yet.

Rumoured to be on his way out of the club this summer, Ricardo Pepi netted twice, although it was Esmir Bajraktarevic who stole the show with two goals and two assists.

De Rood-witten now head to Johan Cruyff Arena for a heavyweight clash against an Ajax side they have not beaten in four meetings, following a run of six straight victories between April 2022 and October 2023.

Having scored in every league game so far, PSV are aiming to equal their 2023-24 record of finding the net in every league match. They will need to breach a defensive unit with the best home record in the division—just 13 goals conceded in 15 matches.

Former Ajax defender Sergino Dest will play no part against his former club due to a hamstring injury, joining four other guaranteed absentees. Ivan Perisic is suspended after picking up a yellow card in midweek.

Since taking charge of Ajax in March, Oscar Garcia has made a positive impression and could be handed the job on a permanent basis, particularly if he secures a return to the Champions League.

De Godenzonen currently sit fourth in the table on 54 points, level on points with FC Twente, one behind NEC Nijmegen in third and four adrift of Feyenoord in second ahead of PSV's visit.

With Feyenoord and NEC facing bottom-half sides Fortuna Sittard and Telstar respectively, a defeat for Ajax this weekend could leave them with a mountain to climb in the top-three race heading into the final two matches.

Arguably the standout player of this Eredivisie season, Mika Godts will be a significant miss if ruled out after the Belgian limped off with an injury late in his man-of-the-match display against Breda.

Whispers predicts: Ajax 2-2 PSV Eindhoven

Both Ajax and PSV rank among the top four defences in the division. Still, it is difficult to see either side keeping a clean sheet. Given their aspirations, the onus will be on the hosts to take the initiative, but we are backing a stalemate at 4.20.

With the calibre of attacking talent on display, an open, end-to-end contest is expected, so both teams to score at 1.33 appeals.

Only one of the last 10 meetings between Ajax and PSV has seen 10 or more corners, making under 10 corners at 1.90 a strong selection.

📈 Whispers' Tips

> 1x2 - Draw at 4.20 | Likelihood: Probable

> BTTS - Yes at 1.33 | Likelihood: Probable

> Over/Under Corners - Under 10 corners at 1.90 | Likelihood: Probable
