AGF secured a UEFA Champions League qualifying berth after winning the Superligaen title last season, their first since 1986. This is the hosts' first appearance in this competition since the 1987/88 season.
Although the Danish side have participated in the qualifying rounds of the Europa and Conference leagues in recent years, they have not advanced to the main draw of a UEFA competition in 25 years.
Ahead of this skirmish, AGF have no injured or suspended players, so head coach Jakob Poulsen is expected to field his strongest starting XI.
While the hosts have lost only one home game in over eight months, it is important to note that their stadium is currently under construction, and this match will be played at Cepheus Park, the home of Randers FC.
On the other hand, Lech Poznan won the Polish Super Cup title on Thursday after defeating Gornik Zabrze 3-1. They have now won three consecutive matches and are unbeaten in 14 games, a run that stretches back to mid-March.
Interestingly, the visitors got past this stage last season but were eliminated by Red Star Belgrade in the third qualifying round. They ended up in the Conference League, where they had an impressive campaign, reaching the round of 16.
Coach Niels Frederiksen will not be able to call upon the services of Ali Gholizadeh. The Iranian midfielder picked up a long-term cruciate ligament tear in a league clash against Motor Lublin earlier in May, and he's not expected to be back in action until next January.
Although this is Lech Poznan’s first encounter with a Danish outfit, AGF have a 4-1-2 win-draw-loss record in seven previous meetings with Polish sides.
