Major League Soccer 2024 promises to be even more interesting than previous campaigns. David Beckham’s project over in Miami has proven to be successful, with the Herons signing plenty of world-class players over the last couple of months.
However, the team from Florida isn’t the only one who has tremendous players to brag with. LA Galaxy and Los Angeles have snapped up some very interesting names as well. Of course, coach Wilfried Nancy’s Columbus Crew didn’t win the 2023 MLS campaign by accident.

Top 10 MLS players for 2024
Lionel Messi
Understandably, we have La Pulga at the top of the list. Messi, a World Cup winner with Argentina, is arguably the best to ever play. After a spell with Ligue 1 giants PSG, he opted to open a new chapter in his professional career, signing for Inter Miami in 2023.
During the 2024 Major Leagues Soccer campaign, Messi made 12 appearances before his Copa America injury. During that time, he scored 12 goals and added nine assists to his name.
Luis Suarez
Former Barcelona superstar Suarez also joined the Herons in 2024. Despite being on the bench for the better part of the 2024 Copa America, Suarez is a firm starter for the Herons. He bagged 12 goals and five assists in Major League Soccer after only 18 games played.
Moreover, the Uruguayan goalscoring machine also scored in the CONCACAF Champions League and the Leagues Cup. He is undoubtedly one of the top 10 MLS players in 2024 and we are convinced he will be one of the key players for Inter Miami throughout the entire campaign.
Luciano Acosta
The list wouldn’t have been complete without Luciano Acosta’s name. 2023 MLS Player of the Season Acosta is performing at his lethal best for coach Pat Noonan in 2024 as well. The Argentine maestro scored 11 goals and added 15 assists to his name.
26 goal returns in 24 domestic league matches is truly an admirable feat to have and we can only wonder how far he can go this season.
Hugo Lloris
With 30 goals conceded this season as of August, LAFC have the best defensive record in MLS’ Western Conference. Former Premier League star and Tottenham Hotspur legend Lloris is the culprit to blame. The World Cup Champion with France has been one of the best shot-stoppers in the World throughout the last decade and we were surprised to see him sign for LAFC. Sure, at the age of 37, he is no spring chicken. However, we are convinced he still has a few good years ahead of him.
Cristian Arango
Arango of Real Salt Lake City has been topping the goalscoring table this entire season. Before the start of the Leagues Cup, Arango was at the top again, with 17 goals to his name. We are convinced coach Pablo Mastroeni will want to keep his star player for the remaining part of the campaign, despite interest from some European clubs.
Christian Benteke
Former Liverpool superstar Benteke is now strutting his stuff at Audi Field. DC United’s captain has earned the right to be named as one of the top 10 MLS players in 2024, as he is the 2nd-best goalscorer at the time of writing, with 16 league goals. Outscoring Messi and Suarez is no small feat. Surely, the Belgian goalscoring expert will try to poach the Top Goalscorer Award as well.
Carles Gil
Sadly, Gil has spent the better part of 2024 injured. New England Revolution’s captain suffered a leg injury a while back and still has issues coming back to full fitness.
However, with five goals and three assists since the start of the season, Gil is still one of the most influential players New England Revolution have. We are sure he will be back sooner rather than later to boost his record.
Raul Ruidiaz
Seattle Sounders’ Ruidiaz is having a decent 2024 campaign. Under coach Brian Schmetzer’s guidance, the Peruvian striker bagged eight goals in 21 league matches. However, he has still yet to record an assist this year. One-trick pony Ruidiaz is one of the most important players on the team, as he only missed four games for his team so far. Surely, he is one of the top 10 MLS players in 2024.
Daniel Salloi
With two goals and two assists in 22 league games, it’s safe to say Salloi is slacking. Sporting Kansas City are close to the bottom of the table in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. If coach Peter Vermes wants to keep his job, he must find a way to squeeze more goals out of Salloi, as we know he can do much more than what we’ve seen from him thus far.
Joao Paulo
Seattle Sounders’ midfielder performed nicely in 2024 so far. Sure, he doesn’t have many goal contributions to brag about, but he did make 19 appearances for coach Schmetzer thus far. Paulo has yet to score his first goal for the club in 2024, but he did provide a teammate with an assist. We believe he is one of the top 10 MLS players in 2024, as there aren’t that many quality midfielders such as him in the league right now.
