The 2023/24 Liga MX Clausura campaign began, and we are happy to say that the opening gameweek was as entertaining as it could possibly get. The Eagles scooped up a vital win over Miguel Herrera’s Club Tijuana, high-flying Rayados brushed Puebla aside for a 2-0 win at Estadio BBVA, and Real Madrid legend Fernando Gago’s debut in charge of Chivas Guadalajara ended in a 1-1 tie.

Club America
As expected, we have the Eagles down as the expected winners for the 2024 Clausura. Coach Andre Jardine’s genius helped Club America stroll to a massive title success last season, and we are convinced that the Brazilian tactician would be more than eager to prove he has what it takes to help his team win a second back-to-back Liga MX title.
Club America are at the top of the list in our Liga MX Clausura 2024 favorites article, as the team did brilliantly last season. In the regular part of the Apertura campaign, Club America recorded only one loss! Will they remain unbeaten this season? We have yet to find out.
Monterrey
It comes as no surprise that top dogs Rayados will be Club America’s main rivals for the 2024 Clausura title. Monterrey came close to knocking the Eagles off their pedestal last season, but alas, Monterrey lost the direct game a couple of games before the end of the regular part of the season and just couldn’t get back up from that knock.
However, given Monterrey’s brilliant performance at Estadio BBVA against Puebla, we believe coach Ortiz’s boys certainly have the required arsenal to put up a title fight.
Chivas Guadalajara
After coach Veljko Paunovic got sacked, the Goats’ fans were wondering who would take the hot seat in charge of their beloved club. Chivas’ men in charge were quick to react by appointing Real Madrid club legend Fernando Gago as their new manager. We believe the Goats are among the Liga MX Clausura 2024 favorites, as Chivas have definitely been a force to be reckoned with throughout the last campaign.
Fernando Gago’s debut in Liga MX resulted in a 1-1 tie against Santos Laguna, but the Argentine manager himself couldn’t have been happier with his players. He expressed his delight that his players showed unyielding character to believe they could get something out of this game after trailing 1-0 for the better part of the match. We are sure that Chivas Guadalajara will be among the top Liga MX Clausura 2024 favorites this season.

Tigres UANL
French goalscoring legend Andre-Pierre Gignac scooped the Top Goalscorer Award in the Apertura campaign, but he proved he’s no has-been by bagging a 77th-minute winner for Tigres UANL in the match against Club Leon. The 1-2 win at Estadio Leon on the 18th of January proves that Tigres UANL shouldn’t be neglected in this title race. Tigres remain one of the gems in the league and are surely among the LIGA MX Clausura 2024 favorites this season.
Cruz Azul
Given the fact that Cruz Azul spent a massive €16.5m on transfer fees during the winter transfer market, we are convinced that the players will do their best to prove they have what it takes to compete at a high level. Cruz Azul are one of the key Liga MX Clausura 2024 favorites, as the team also has plenty of experience winning titles in Liga MX. Sure, Cruz Azul’s last couple of campaigns were abysmal, but any true fan of Mexican soccer knows this team is among the most prolific in the country and should always be considered one of the favorites for the Liga MX Clausura 2024 title.
