Charlotte – Philadelphia preview: latest form, news, and potential lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted Charlotte vs Philadelphia lineups.

Charlotte

Charlotte drew 0-0 away vs DC United on Saturday. Played well enough to deserve this third draw in a row. Didn’t do enough to deserve a win though. This has been an issue with Charlotte able to win just once in the last 12 rounds.

Running out of time to make a push on the play-in positions. Need wins.

The problems in defence remain. Both centre-backs C orujo and Tuiloma, starters when fit, remain sidelined. This sees midfielder Privett re-qualified as a defender in recent games. He has done relatively well.

Predicted Lineup:

Kahlina (GK), Byrne, Malanda, Privett, Uronen, Bronico, Westwood, Bender, Swiderski, Dejaegere & Copetti

Philadelphia

Philadelphia were close to an impressive home win vs Conference leaders Cincinnati on Saturday. Philly had a 2-0 lead at halftime but lost focus after the break resulting in a 2-2 draw being registered.

Still, with 4 wins and only 1 defeat in the last 6 rounds, Philadelphia have their play-off spot all but secured already.

Both Gazdag and Carranza have scored 12 goals each and Philly carry a major threat going forward.

The main centre-back Elliott misses this game suspended. This is not such a major issue as Lowe is a great cover option. The only other player set to miss is midfielder Flach. Again, in the talented McGlynn great cover is available.

Predicted Lineup:

Blake (GK), Mbaizo, Lowe, Glesnes, Wagner, Martinez, McGlynn, Bedoya, Gazdag, Carranza & Uhre

Player to Watch: Daniel Gazdag

Philly’s Hungarian playmaker Daniel Gazdag was the team’s top goalscorer in 2022 with his 22 MLS goals. He’s been bagging the goals this season too with 12 goals to his name already. Gazdag scored 5 in the last 5 rounds and he’s hitting top form right as the season enters its business part.

Almost every forward move right now goes through Gazdag and we back him to shine again.
