NYFC – Orlando preview: latest form, news, and potential lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted NYFC vs Orlando lineups.

NYFC

NYFC continued to struggle and on Saturday they only drew 0-0 in the Hudson River Derby vs city rivals New York RB. It was another underwhelming display for City and their chances to make the top 9 look very slim now.

With only 2 wins in the last 20 rounds (D10 L8) NYFC are very low on confidence.

Starting winger Pellegrini is set to miss the coming match due to a ban. This is not such a big issue as Jasson was expected to start instead of him anyway. Another forced chance seems likely in the heart of the midfield. Parks got hurt on Saturday and is now a major doubt. Veteran Morales or Ledezma could provide cover. Moralez would have been an option too but he also nursing an injury and won’t play.

Predicted Lineup:

Freese (GK), Gray, Martins, Risa, Cufre, Morales, Sands, Perea, Jasson, Santiago & Bakrar

Orlando

Orlando achieved a dramatic 4-3 home win vs Columbus on Saturday. Looked doomed at one stage and trailed 1-3 with very little time left. Then Enrique netted a late brace to deliver this dramatic success.

Orlando are now second in their Conference and they have shown the best form of any MLS team over the last 6 rounds (W5 D1). The Violets have won 7 of their last 9 league games and they look like a team on a mission right now.

Torres was only on the bench at the weekend due to returning late from international duty. He should start again now and try to continue his hot streak of 5 goals in the last 5 rounds.

Defender Carlos and striker McGuire face late fitness tests. Both are not expected to start even if they are passed fit on time.

Predicted Lineup:

Gallese (GK), Thorhalsson, Schlegel, Jansson, Santos, Araujo, Cratagena, Torres, Pereyra, Angulo & Enrique

Player to Watch: Ramiro Enrique

Orlando’s centre-forward Ramiro Enrique had to be very patient all season. He started only 2 of the opening 18 games. However, when given the chance to start last Saturday he made a massive impact and scored 2 late goals that turned the match.

Orlando sold their main striker Kara only last week so now the starting role up front is up for grabs. Considering that and the heroics on Saturday we can see Enrique once again giving it his all and trying to impress as he wants to become a regular starter.
