If you searched through Google and Apple’s Play Stores but couldn’t find the Gbets app, you’re not alone. I even had to ask a Gbets representative if the bookmaker's app exists. It turns out that you can only download both apps from the Gbets website, but you have to be logged in to see the app download links.

Download the Gbets app apk on Android
So to download the Gbets app, visit the official website by clicking on the “Download the App” you see at the beginning of this article. You must be logged in to your Gbets account to see the app download links on their website. If you don’t have an account yet, read this comprehensive Gbets registration guide.
- Visit Gbets official website: Once you log in, scroll to the bottom of the website’s homepage. There you’ll find the “Download Android App” and “Download on the App Store” at the very bottom.
- Download Android app: Click the “Download Android App” button to download the installation file. You might see a warning message advising you not to download the app because it’s not coming from the official Google Play Store. Ignore the message and continue the download.
- Install the app: Open the downloaded file then click the “Install” button to begin the Gbets installation process. If the app doesn’t successfully install, ensure that you have given your device permission to install the APK. If that’s not the problem, your device’s version might not be compatible with the APK. Also, check if there’s enough memory on your device to install the app.

How long is the Gbets app installation?
The entire app download and installation process took me about 2 minutes, and I didn’t encounter any problems. I just wish Gbets would display their app download links on the home page without requiring potential users to log in before seeing them.

Top Gbets app features
I've narrowed down the list to the 3 best features that I believe are extremely useful to mobile bettors in South Africa.
Sports and betting markets
Believe me when I tell you that Gbets has one of the best selections of sports and betting markets among bookmakers in South Africa. Gbets had over 700 betting markets available for Real Madrid’s just concluded Champions League game against Manchester City, compared to Supabets with just 555 available markets for the same event.

Now what’s fascinating isn’t just the amount of available betting markets, but also the variety Gbets has to offer us. Here are some unique betting markets on Gbets that you’ll hardly find on other South African betting websites:
- First Minute (00:00 – 00:59) Throw-In (Yes/No)
- First Minute (00:00 – 00:59) Free Kick (Yes/No)
- A Substitute Will Score (Yes/No)
- Anytime Goalscorer Double Chance (eg. Christopher Nkunku or Raheem Sterling)
- Half With The Most Corners
- Draw In at Least One of The Halves
With these exciting options, you’d think Gbets is just a good football betting website. But you’d still be wrong. As of today, Gbets hosts over 40 real sports and 10 eSports. Of these 40 sports, Gbets offers several options that you won’t find on other top South African bookmakers, such as:
- Surfing
- Softball
- NASCAR
- Netball
- Hurling
- Eurovision
- Water polo
- Auto racing
- TV shows and movies
Let me put it into perspective. From this list above, Hollywoodbets and Supabets offer only Netball while Betway only offers water polo.
Live betting
The overall live betting experience on the Gbets app was satisfactory. The in-game match tracker was as fast as other bookmakers I tested. And the app interface made switching between live events seamless, which is especially important when the clock is against you.
Cash out option for live sports betting
I rarely use betting sites without the Cashout option because my approach involves taking a profit or cutting my losses when a game in the bet slip is about to lose. Luckily for us, Gbets not only offers cashout but also offers the cashout option for multiple sports, unlike the Hollywoodbets app that only allows Cashout for Soccer.
Is there a Gbets data free app?
Despite numerous sites suggesting Gbets has a data-free app, I couldn’t find it or any information about it from the bookmaker’s site. So I asked a representative who confirmed that Gbets doesn’t have a data-free mode or app.
But with the bookmaker’s competitors such as Hollywoodbets and Easybet offering a data-free site and app, it may not be long before we see a Gbets data-free app.
Gbets on the app, on mobile and desktop
I used Gbets on mobile and desktop, then I tested the apps on Android and iOS. Here’s what I have to say. When betting, I prefer to use a desktop because I can see more stuff at once and it’s easier to switch between the bookmaker’s betting website and other match statistic or prediction sites. So I might have a slight bias for desktop sites.

However, I still spend a considerable amount of time betting with my phone so I appreciate a good mobile design. The good news is that the Gbets app did a nice job with their mobile site design. I found it easy to use and had no trouble locating sections and features I regularly explore.

But I might slightly prefer using the mobile app for a few reasons. One, it only takes a single click to open the app and go about my business. It’s not much of a real problem but can be annoying if you regularly play bets like me.
As expected, the mobile app is noticeably faster than the mobile site, probably because the app is designed with native code and doesn’t need to reload resources after switching between pages.
How does the Gbets app compare?
Gbets goes up against leading bookies like Hollywoodbets, Betway, and Supabets. Can the Gbets app hold its ground against these betting giants?
Gbets vs Hollywoodbets app
In terms of usability, I’ll go with Gbets over the Hollywoodbets app. The design of the Gbets app is easier to navigate, which makes the entire betting process a bit easier. As for speed and performance, both apps performed to expectations so there’s no clear winner here. Where the Hollywoodbets app had the upper hand was with their data-free app allowing for more accessibility for people with network connectivity problems.
Gbets vs Betway app
I’ll give Gbets and the Betway app a similar rating because both apps provide a satisfactory betting experience. However, I found it easier to switch between sports and events on Gbets. Again, both the Gbets and Betway apps support the Cashout and Bet Builder features, so it’s difficult to pick a clear winner here.
Gbets vs Supabets app
The Supabets app offers live streaming so it’s better than the Gbets' in the category. However, the Gbets app is still superior in terms of app design and overall usability. Also, I prefer to use Gbets for betting as they have a better selection of sports and betting markets than the Supabets app.
My thoughts on the Gbets app
I enjoy Gbets’ overall betting service, especially the bookmaker's catalogue of sports/betting markets. So I was naturally excited to hear that Gbets had a functional mobile app. I then downloaded and tested the Gbets app on Android and iOS and was satisfied with both. South Africans looking for a good mobile betting app with a mix of exceptional betting services can hardly go wrong with the app.
