Ever since it was founded back in 2016, the SheBelieves Cup has been getting more and more recognition. Today, it’s one of the more interesting women’s soccer tournaments in the United States and one that all true fans of the sport are more than eager to follow. The 2024 SheBelieves Cup will be its ninth edition and we are sure that the games ahead of us will be at least as interesting as they were last year.

SheBelieves Cup schedule, teams, and message
SheBelieves Cup message & empowerment
The tournament itself took the U.S. Women’s National Team as an inspiration. Its goal is to not only promote soccer in the US but to help young women and girls reach their full potential and fulfill their dreams. The message that the SheBelieves Cup tournament is trying to promote is vital for this day and age, and we are sure that with soccer’s growing popularity within the US, more and more fans will be interested in learning not only about the top MLS players to watch but also about the brightest stars in women’s soccer right now.
Brief history of the SheBelieves Cup
As stated above, it all began in 2016. The initial three editions of the tournament had the US Women’s National Team, England, Germany, and France battle it out, but ever since 2019, the tournament has featured different teams each year. It’s a friendly invitational tournament where the victor is not important, but it goes without saying that the US side won most editions of the SheBelieves Cup:
- 2016 – United States
- 2017 – France
- 2018 – United States
- 2019 – England
- 2020 – United States
- 2021 – United States
- 2022 – United States
- 2023 – United States

As of February, 2023rd, we’ve had a total of 12 teams participate in the SheBelieves Cup through the years. Most of them are familiar and unsurprising names, but here’s the full list of countries that added their voice to the strong SheBelieves Cup message:
- United States
- England
- France
- Argentina
- Germany
- Brazil
- Japan
- Spain
- Iceland
- Canada
- Czech Republic
- New Zealand
As you see, countries from all over the World have united in the name of a greater cause. During the few editions of the tournament, we saw a couple of terrific goalscorers. The likes of US’s Megan Rapinoe (7 goals) and Mallory Swanson (8 goals) come to mind. However, we should also give a shoutout to England’s Ellen White for scoring as many goals as US legend Alex Morgan (5).

SheBelieves Cup 2024 teams
Soccer fans across the US will be undoubtedly pleased to learn more about the countries that will partake in the SheBelieves Cup in 2024. Of course, we have the United States hosting the event, but the remaining three countries are also ones that take pride in the message that this tournament is trying to promote.
We have Japan and Brazil joining the SheBelieves Cup for the 4th time and Canada for the 3rd. Will the Canucks manage to pull off the surprise of the tournament? Or maybe Japan and Brazil will finally earn gold? Let’s take a look at the SheBelieves Cup schedule to see what we can expect from these four teams.
Schedule & dates for the SheBelieves Cup 2024
If you are wondering when the SheBelieves Cup will be held, you should know that the 2024 edition of this wonderful tournament is scheduled to be played between the 6th and 9th of April. It will be a bit later than we’ve had it in previous years, but you can surely expect some thrilling games this year. Soccer fans across the US will be undoubtedly pleased to learn that the conditions for soccer will be tremendous, which will make the celebrations even more enjoyable.
The SheBelieves Cup dates as well as the key matches are already announced.
- April 6th – USA vs Japan – Semi-final
- April 6th – Canada vs Brazil – Semi-final
- April 9th – Match for 3rd place
- April 9th – Final
As you can see, the US are once again opening the tournament, and we are sure it will be a banger of a game, but the Canada vs Brazil head-to-head shouldn’t be underestimated either. The U.S. Women’s National Team will host Japan on the 6th of April at one of the most prolific Major League Soccer venues out there – Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta United’s shrine will have the high honor of hosting this event and we are sure that the atmosphere will be electric.
Canada and Brazil will go at it at the very same venue a couple of hours after the US vs Japan kick-off. However, the match for 3rd place and the grand final will both be held at Lower.com Field. Columbus Crew won their 2023 MLS title at this very stadium. Will the US ladies manage to win another SheBelieves Cup here as well?
SheBelieves Cup expectations

It goes without saying that Megan Rapinoe and her colleagues are the expected winners in the SheBelieves Cup tournament. A thing that benefits them greatly is the fact that they are facing Japan in the semi-finals. An easy win for the home team is expected here, so we shouldn’t see any issues for coach Twila Kilgore and her players.
We don’t know what to make of the Canada vs Brazil game, as both sides seem equally good and any one of them could advance to the grand final at Lower.com Field on the 9th of April. It seems that with seven back-to-back victories before the unfortunate loss against the US side on the 7th of March, Canada is the team that is enjoying solid momentum. However, we should all remember the fact that the only team to beat the Canucks in regular time were the Brazilian ladies themselves.
We believe that the final game at Lower.com Field will be between the US Women’s National Team and Canada, but, as we mentioned earlier, the message here is far more important than the winner. We are sure that the growing popularity of the tournament will help young girls reach for the skies and fulfill their potential, sporting or otherwise.
