New Orleans kicks off its season in a home game that won’t be played in The Big Easy. Because of hurricane Ida, the event was moved to Jacksonville and that’s where we will see Aaron Rodgers visiting the Saints. Are there any viable bets for that game? Yes, there are, so see our picks below.
Saints vs Packers: Spread betting – Packers -3.5 @ -110
After the game was initially scheduled to be played in Dallas where NOLA had moved its operations, the line moved to 4.0- 4.5 in favor of the Packers. Over the past few days, you could see many sportsbooks having Green Bay favored by 3.5 and this is also the number we like. Even though the 0.5 ‘’hook’’ can be tricky, we are willing to take it with the hungry Aaron Rodgers.
Even though the Packers have problems at the offensive line (David Bakhtiari is on PUP and Bryan Bulaga, and Corey Linsley left in the summer), we still think they will be able to win by 4 against a significantly weakened New Orleans team. The pick that we are giving away is Green Bay -3.5 @ -110.
Our best bet on the New Orleans vs Green Bay match
The best bet that we got for you is Aaron Rodgers Over 276.5 passing yards @ -120
We think that Rodgers will have a field day even though the team likes running the ball too. Still, running back Aaron Jones is also a receiving threat and this will help Rodgers rack up his passing yards.
Last year, the MVP quarterback averaged 268 passing yards per game. This year, he’s getting a buddy of his back – Randall Cobb. While Cobb isn’t in his prime, he does possess good chemistry with Rodgers so don’t be surprised if he picks up a few receptions and decent yardage. We aren’t even going to mention Devante Adams who is regarded as the best wide receiver in the league currently.
Furthermore, all those injuries on the Saints’ offense (Michael Thomas, Tre’Quan Smith, and kicker Wil Lutz) may mean that their defense spends longer time on the field which would give Rodgers the opportunity to rack up some yards.
NO vs GB: Which players to watch
Robert Tonyan: Tonyan had an impressive 2020/2021 season with 66 receptions and 11 touchdowns. We think he’s due for a regression, but this may not be the case. Randall Cobb provides another viable target for Rodgers so he may poach away a few targets from Tonyan.
Jameis Winston: We saw a summer QB battle in the Big Easy which was recently won by Winston. Can he hold on to the starting job in Sean Payton’s offense is something we all want to find out. This game will tell us a lot about how well or bad Winston has progressed. We also have to respect the fact that he will be missing some weapons.
Our experts’ bonus picks on the match
- Jameis Winston Passing Yards: Over 260.5 @ -120
- Aaron Jones Receiving Yards: Over 19.5 @ -120
- Winning margin: GB Packers 1-6 @ +350
