Tottenham Hotspur: Latest Transfer Rumours

Football Whispers has combed through the gossip columns and rumour mill to bring you the latest transfer stories concerning Tottenham Hotspur. Below you can find all of the latest talk about possible ins and outs at the club alongside our rumour rating with each individual story. We rank rumours out of five, with scores of 1/5 saved for the unlikeliest moves and ratings of 5/5 reserved for deals that look nailed on.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham target Atletico winger?

Tottenham have opened talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential deal to sign Yannick Carrasco, according to The Sun.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is believed a big admirer of the Belgian, having previously tried to bring him to the Premier League on the January transfer deadline day.

However, Atletico were unwilling to do business then, though they are thought to be open to selling the 28-year-old this summer if they can squeeze £25m out of a potential deal.

Carrasco has been an integral part of Diego Simeone’s side since he returned to Atletico from a two-year stint in the Chinese Super League, though the Madrid giants are under pressure to cut their wage bill to meet La Liga’s new salary cap.

The winger’s versatility is thought to appeal to Conte, who could deploy Carrasco at either right or left wing back if a deal can be struck.

Spurs already look well stacked on both flanks however, with Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and new signing Djed Spence competing for minutes on the right, while Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon are currently sharing duties on the left.

Clubs will need more depth this year to cope with a truncated club football season, though we’re not sure Tottenham need more bodies in this particular area, making a swoop for Carrasco unlikely.

Tottenham to send midfielder out on loan?

Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb have published a story linking Spurs midfielder Pape Matar Sarr with a loan move to Serie A side Cremonese, though the deal hinges on the fitness of Rodrigo Bentancur.

Bentancur suffered a knock to his head in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend and Antonio Conte is believed to be holding back on sanctioning a move for Sarr until he knows his Uruguayan schemer is ok.

Tottenham have just approved a loan switch to Italy for another of their fringe players, Harry Winks, and with Oliver Skipp out injured and Tanguy Ndombele also moved on, Conte is reluctant to let his options in the middle of the park dwindle any further.

However, if Bentancur makes a full recovery – as expected – Sarr should be allowed to move to the Italian peninsula before the transfer window slams shut.

Last gasp Ziyech swoop on the cards?

Chelsea and Tottenham are rumoured to be locked in negotiations over the surprise late transfer between the clubs of Hakim Ziyech, according to the Daily Express.

The Moroccan international has been linked with a move away from the Blues for the entire summer, though potential switches to AC Milan, Ajax and Manchester United never transpired.

However, now the 29-year-old could be set for a short hop across the capital to Tottenham. Ziyech featured in Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Southampton on Tuesday evening, though he failed to make an impact against the Saints.

Indeed, the wide attacker has failed to live to expectations with the Blues since his transfer from Ajax in 2020, though Thomas Tuchel’s arrival and the team’s subsequent switch to a winger-less system certainly hasn’t helped his cause.

Antonio Conte is believed to be keen to add one more attacking option to his ever-growing squad before Thursday’s deadline and Ziyech could provide an interesting alternative to first choice trio Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski,

The rumours linking Ziyech to Spurs are still rooted in the frivolous realm however, with the Express grabbing their story from an outlet in Spain, so we aren’t sure about the validity of this potential deal.

Late James deal still in the works?

Tottenham are waiting to hear back from Dan James before pursuing a dramatic late loan deal for the Leeds winger, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs opened tentative discussions with Leeds last week about a potential temporary switch for the Wales international, though any arrangement will likely have a permanent purchase option built in.

Dan James swapped Manchester United for Leeds on Deadline Day last summer in a deal worth approximately £26m, though the 24-year-old could be about to slip through the closing window to a new employer again this year.

Romano insists that the James move is “not an easy deal” for Tottenham to complete, however, especially with Everton sniffing around the ex-Swansea man too.

“Tottenham have discussed potential loan with buy option for Daniel James with Leeds last week — not an easy deal, also Everton asked. Situation remains open, it’s up to the player — Leeds would be happy to keep James.”

FW rumour rating: 3/5

Harry Kane

Conte provides Kane contract update

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has reiterated his desire to see Harry Kane pen a new contract with the club, reports football.london.

Kane has entered the final two years of his current deal with Spurs, though it is believed that the England man would be open to extending his stay in north London.

The 29-year-old pushed hard for a move to Manchester City last summer, though Spurs CEO Daniel Levy resisted the temptation to cash in on the club’s prized asset, despite being offered over £100m for his services.

The landscape at Tottenham has shifted considerably since then however, and the arrival of Antonio Conte has sparked fresh optimism. The spike in Spurs’ fortunes is rumoured to have allayed many of Kane’s worries about the club’s ambitions and now he could be ready to ink a new contract with his boyhood team.

Speaking about a new contract for Kane, Conte said: “My opinion is only one of a million opinions. To force the club, to tell the club ‘sign a new contract for Harry Kane' because we are talking about a world-class striker and a player who in this moment is the most representative player for Tottenham, no?

“For sure I would like him to sign a new contract. In this moment, for me it is very important to see him happy, totally involved with this season, this project and in what we are doing. For me this is the most important. Then it's a decision that the player and the club have to take.”

Last Week's Tottenham Transfer Rumours

Gil to re-join Valencia on loan

Gifted Spanish youngster Bryan Gil is on the verge of returning to his homeland in a loan move that will see him spend the  entire 2022/23 campaign with Valencia, according to The Guardian.

Gil signed for Spurs from Sevilla back in 2021 as part of the part-exchange transfer that saw Erik Lamela move in the opposite direction, though the 21-year-old has found it tough to nail down a role in the Tottenham team.

The winger made just nine Premier League appearances in the first half of last season before he joined Valencia on loan in January.

Back in Spain, Gil seemed to find some form again, though he was unable to notch a single goal in 17 appearances for Los Che between January and May.

However, Valencia were pleased enough with his overall performances to pursue another loan deal for Gil, that will keep him in southern Spain until next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs lining up shock move for James?

Tottenham are contemplating a surprise move for Leeds United flier Dan James, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old joined Leeds from Manchester United for a fee believed to be in the region of £25m just last year, though another move could be in the offing if the rumours hold weight.

James notched four goals and four assists during his maiden campaign at Elland Road in 2021/22, though it appears as though he has slipped down the pecking order at the club under American coach Jessie Marsch.

Stories linking Tottenham with a swoop for James are suggesting that Antonio Conte views the Welsh international as a potentially useful squad member, though we aren’t convinced this rumour holds any weight.

Spurs don’t play with traditional wingers in Conte’s 3-5-2 system and James would be a square peg in a round hole in one of the wingback positions. Tottenham’s squad is also well-stacked after a busy summer and it’s difficult to see where James would fit in.

Phillips on Tottenham’s radar?

Tottenham are keeping tabs on highly-regarded Blackburn Rovers starlet Ashley Phillips, according to Sky Sports.

The 17-year-old centre-half has been turning heads for Rovers with his composed performances at the back in the Championship and Spurs are believed to be one of several suitors tracking the youngster.

Blackburn are keen to tie Phillips to a long-term deal, though the lure of moving to a Premier League big-hitter could be too powerful for the teenager to resist.

Should Tottenham manage to secure his signature, it is believed Phillips could be loaned straight back out to gain valuable first-team experience.

FW rumour rating: 3/5

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore

Spurs still keen on Adama Traore

Tottenham are still keeping a close eye on Wolves winger Adama Traore, according to 90min journalist Graeme Bailly.

The explosive wide attacker has been on Spurs’ list of targets for several seasons now, though he could be acquired for a cut-price deal this summer having fallen out of favour at Molineux.

Traore spent the second half of last season on loan with Catalonian giants Barcelona, though he failed to make much of a splash at Camp Nou and he returned to Wolves in June.

The 26-year-old has played just 31 minutes of Premier League football so far this season however, and it already looks as though Head Coach Bruno Lage has deemed him surplus to requirements.

Traore’s lightning pace and ability to beat multiple players at once are highly-prized skills, though his lack of an end product can lead to frustration.

The ex-Aston Villa and Middlesbrough man doesn’t seem like a good fit for Antonio Conte’s tactical plan and stories linking him with a switch to North London seem tenuous at best.

Atalanta star coveted by Tottenham?

Tottenham are targeting Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, according to numerous outlets, including football365.com.

The versatile schemer, who can be deployed in a number of different roles and positions has reportedly been told he can leave La Dea this summer by manager Gian Piero Gasperini and Spurs have been named as a possible destination.

The Ukrainian fanned the flames of speculation further at the weekend when he liked a social media post celebrating Tottenham’s 1-0 triumph over Wolves on Saturday.

Malinovskyi chipped in with ten goal contributions in 30 Serie A appearances for Atalanta last season, though Gasperini still seems willing to sanction the 29-year-old’s departure this summer.

Speaking about the midfielder this week, Gasperini said: “Malinovskyi had arrived as a director adapting to the tip of [Josip] Ilicic, but it is right that Atalanta choose a more suitable player in the transfer market.

“We spent years chasing an element with Josip's characteristics. Ruslan is very good but in that attacking role he is adapted despite having done excellent things. But he remains a midfielder. ”

FW rumour rating: 3/5

Tottenham join race for Gordon

Tottenham have joined London rivals Chelsea in the battle to sign Everton star Anthony Gordon, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Chelsea are believed to be willing to pay up to £60m to sign the 21-year-old, though so far at least, the Toffees have been resisting offers for their prized asset.

Now, Spurs are ready to throw their hat into the ring and a major bidding war for Gordon’s services could ensue.

In an Everton team short on star quality, Gordon’s performances over the last year have been a breath of fresh air and the blossoming youngster seems to have stepped up his game even more this term.

Chelsea’s new owners, led by Todd Boehly, have been determined to make a statement during the transfer window and they have already spent over £180m on new players including Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidoi Koulibaly and Carney Chukweumeka.

However, the is still more cash to splurge and Chelsea are believed to be still in the market for more recruits, particularly at the top end of the pitch. Tottenham are also cash-rich after a sizeable investment in the club earlier in the summer.

Everton and Frank Lampard are determined to fend off interest in Gordon from Tottenham and Chelsea however, so this one could run until Deadline Day.

Tottenham angling for Paqueta deal

Tottenham are still vying for the signature of highly-rated Lyon schemer Lucas Paqueta, according to Footballlfancast.com (via Alasdair Gold)

Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici has been investigating a deal for the Brazilian international for several weeks and Tottenham could firm up their interest soon with the transfer window slamming shut on September 1st.

Tottenham have been on the lookout for a creative midfielder that can adapt to Antonio Conte’s favoured system and line-splitting creator Paqueta fits the bill.

Speaking about Spurs’ interest in the Brazil international, Alasdair Gold said:

“Spurs have been tracking Lyon’s Brazil international Lucas Paqueta for a while. The versatile 24-year-old can play in an attacking midfield role, centrally or on the right and can also play up front when required.

“He adds plenty of versatility and fits the idea of a more advanced Conte number 10 that can create out wide and would provide the Italian with two players in every position if he signed with Richarlison able to be used either up front or on either flank.

“There’s plenty of interest in Paqueta with Newcastle and Arsenal among those linked to him and again as I said below Spurs want to get players out of the door first before they can move for anyone on a big deal. The Brazilian’s price tag, with three years left on his contract, has gone all over the place this summer with talk of a £68m one to a lower £33m one in recent days but Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas is not a man to let anyone go on the cheap.”

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham interested in Garner

Tottenham are one of the Premier League clubs credited with an interest in signing Man Utd youngster, James Garner, according to The Athletic.

The 21-year-old midfielder is expected to make a permanent move away from Old Trafford this summer following minimal involvement with the first team and Spurs could be one of the keenest suitors for the deep-lying playmaker.

Garner excelled while on loan with Nottingham Forest last season, performing consistently during the club’s run to promotion and he could be acquired for a fee between £14m and £20m.

The anchorman came up through the academy ranks at United, though he has barely had a sniff of first-team action there.

This season was supposed to be a breakthrough one for Garner, though he remained on the substitutes’ bench for United’s defeats to Brighton and Brentford in their opening two Premier League matches of the new campaign.

Ndombele close to sealing Serie A switch?

Tottenham have been trying desperately to get underperforming midfielder Tanguy Ndombele off their books and now it looks like they have managed to shift him to Napoli, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs forked out a then club-record fee of £55m to sign Ndombele from Lyon in 2019, though the Frenchman was never able to make a splash in North London and he ended up back with Les Gones on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.

Ndombele had been linked with a permanent switch to Spanish side Villarreal, though it looks as though Napoli have stolen in to capture the 25-year-old ahead of the Yellow Submarine.

Napoli’s deal for Ndombele will be a year-long loan initially, though they will have the option to make the move a permanent one if they are happy with his performances.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks

Winks set for surprise move to Spain?

Valencia are considering a swoop for fringe Tottenham midfielder, Harry Winks, according to Spanish media outlet, Todofichajes.

Winks has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs following Antonio Conte’s arrival and his low-key, technical skill-set is at odds with the rough and tumble style that the Italian has been working to implement.

However, Wink’s neat-and-tidy passing game might make him better suited to the kind of football played in La Liga and Valencia are believed to have made noises about bringing the ex-England international to southern Spain.

Valencia are in need of reinforcements and new manager Gino Gattuso wants to get some business done before the transfer window closes next month.

Winks could be signed for a nominal fee and a move to Valencia could suit all parties.

FW rumour rating: 3/5

Lo Celso’s departure confirmed

Villarreal have finally completed the signing of Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham, ending the midfielder’s short association with the North London club.

The midfielder spent the second half of the 2021/22 season with the La Liga side and quickly rebuilt his reputation as a creative midfield force.

Antonio Conte wasn’t an avid appreciator of Lo Celso’s talents, however, and the tough Italian taskmaster, made it known this summer that the Argentinean wasn’t in his plans.

Spurs signed Lo Celso from Real Betis for a fee in the region of £27m in 2020, a year after they brought him to the club on loan.

Lo Celso managed to score just one Premier League goal in 55 appearances for Tottenham, however, and he was allowed to move to Villarreal on a permanent deal in January.

The 26-year-old’s return to Spain on a permanent basis has fetched Tottenham almost £20m, which represents a decent fee for a player who never performed consistently for them.

Tottenham tracking Ronnie Edwards

Tottenham are watching Peterborough's Ronnie Edwards closely, according to football.london. The 19-year-old has been catching the eye for both club and country, making 36 Championship appearances for his side last season and featuring in the winning England U19 Euros squad earlier this summer.

Posh have since been relegated to League One, though the club’s director of football Barry Fry confirmed Spurs’ long-standing interest in the defender.

“Spurs have been watching him for a long time, but so have other clubs. There is a big German club showing interest which is no real surprise as they love to take young English players and develop them,” he explained.

“Virtually the entire Premier League know about Ronnie and it’s interesting to see members of his England Under 19 team attracting attention now. I have had big clubs asking to be kept informed if anyone does bid for Ronnie.”

Tottenham to take control of Destiny?

Numerous outlets, including the Sun are reporting that Tottenham have reached an agreement with Serie A club Udinese to sign their in-demand starlet Destiny Udogie – though the youngster won’t move to North London until next year.

The Italian enjoyed an impressive breakout campaign in 2021/22 when he made 35 appearances down the left flank for Udinese and his performances put him on the radar of a number of top European clubs.

However, according to the Sun (via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano) Spurs have won the race for his signature and they will pay more than £17m to wrangle him ahead of his other suitors.

The flying wing back has already agreed personal terms with Antonio Conte’s side, though he is set to stay with his current club on loan until next summer.

With Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic already vying for the left wing back slot in Conte’s 3-5-2 system, Tottenham believe that it would be better for Udogie’s development to play regularly for Udinese for another 12 months.

Conte an admirer of Maddison?

Tottenham have made contact with Leicester to learn about the availability of key creator James Maddison, according to GiveMeSport’s Dean Jones.

Any deal for Maddison would likely cost close to £60m, though Dean Jones has said that Spurs still haven’t closed the door on a potential move.

Last summer, Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal attempted to sign Maddison, though their interest cooled when Leicester refused to drop their valuation of the midfielder.

However, now Maddison has just two years to run on his current Foxes deal and he could be acquired for slightly less than the fee Leicester placed on his head in 2021.

Tottenham have already spent close to £100m in the window, though there is still cash to play with following the hefty £150m cash injection into the club from the owners in May.

Rumours have also suggested that Leicester need an injection of funds themselves and the sale of Maddison would help to balance the books in that regard

Speaking about the potential transfer, Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Maddison is an interesting one because if Leicester are forced to sell, he might be the one allowed to leave.

“Tottenham at the moment are focused on outgoings for now, so there’s nothing to suggest that Maddison to Tottenham is imminent or advanced, but it’s absolutely true that Conte likes the player a lot, so let’s see where that one develops between now and the end of the window.”

FW rumour rating: 3/5

Emerson Royal to depart?

Tottenham could still be open to selling Emerson Royal this summer if they get the right offer for the defender, according to TEAMtalk.

Spurs are hoping to move on a number of fringe players before the transfer window slams shut on September 1 and though Royal impressed in the club’s first Premier League match of the campaign against Southampton, an exit could still be on the cards.

The Brazilian’s dynamic display down the right flank would have turned heads and Royal put in the cross that led to an own goal from Mohammed Salisu before he notched a late assist, setting up Dejan Kulusevksi for Tottenham’s fourth goal.

However, Royal’s stay in Antonio Conte's XI is almost certain to be a brief one despite his heroics. The 23-year-old is considered third choice for his position in North London behind Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty and summer acquisition Djed Spence.

Spurs paid over £25m to sign Emerson Royal from Real Betis in the summer of 2021, though they might only recoup half of that fee if they move him on this month.

Nicolo Zaniolo, Roma

Zaniolo rumours won’t fade away

Tottenham Hotspur remain hot on the trail of Italian midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, according to numerous outlets including footballfancast.com.

Quoting stories run on Sport Witness and Italian publication Il Tempo, they claim that Spurs Sporting Director Fabio Paratici is in constant contact with Zaniolo’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, in the hope that a deal can be struck.

Over the weekend, the noise from the schemer’s club AS Roma insinuated that they don’t want to part with his services, though money talks, and Tottenham have a lot of it to play with.

Zaniolo is thought the be valued at around £42m by his current employers, a fee that Spurs have so far been unwilling to match.

Antonio Conte is known to be a massive admirer of Zaniolo’s skillset and the hierarchy at Tottenham have rarely said “no” to their fiery manager. Spurs have already signed seven players this summer and they are in the market for more recruits.

Tottenham are believed to have suggested a player-plus-fee arrangement to sign Zaniolo, though Roma would demand a straight cash deal to even consider continuing negotiations.

FW rumour rating: 2/5

Villarreal to complete Spurs double swoop?

Villarreal are attempting to complete the double-capture of Tottenham pair Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, reports the Daily Mail.

Ndombele, who was Spurs’ record signing when he moved to the club from Lyon for a whopping £63m in 2019, has struggled to earn a place in Antonio Conte’s XI and the French midfielder has been deemed surplus to requirements this summer.

The 25-year-old spent the 2021/22 campaign in France with his former club Lyon, though Les Gones didn’t take up their option to buy him outright and he returned to Tottenham for pre-season training last month.

Giovani Lo Celso meanwhile, also spent the backend of the previous season on loan with Villarreal and the Argentinean impressed enough to encourage the Yellow Submarine to pursue a permanent deal.

Tottenham signed Yves Bissouma in the summer, adding to the purchase of Rodrigo Bentancur in January and with competition for places in midfield extremely stiff, Conte cannot find room for Ndombele and Lo Celso.

Conte previously admitted that Ndombele had ‘talent' but insisted the French international had to ‘work much' harder.

The Italian manager said: ‘For sure, Tanguy has the quality but at the same time he has to understand that there is a team and he has to play into the team. It means that it's important to keep order and to do what the position is asking you to do.

‘We are working very hard with Tanguy – he has to work much more than the others because he has some talent but he has to put this talent into the team, for the best of the team, not for the single player.'

Tottenham line up swap deal?

Tottenham are in discussions with Spanish club Villarreal about a possible swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele and Pervis Estupinan, according to TEAMtalk.

Spurs are already close to selling Giovani Lo Celso to the Yellow Submarine, though talks have also reportedly been held over another piece of midfield deadwood in Ndombele.

The Frenchman is one of several fringe first-teamers that Tottenham have put on the market and Spanish journalist Xavi Jorquera Marquez claims that Spurs would be open to selling both Ndombele and Lo Celso to Villarreal.

Finances are tight at Villarreal however, and swap deal involving highly-rated fullback Pervis Estupinan could grease the wheels for a potential switch.

The Ecuadorian left back has excelled in Spain since his move there from Watford, though it remains to be seen just how keen Spurs would be to add another player in that position to their ranks with Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon all still on their books.

Reguilon is among the players listed as surplus to requirements, however, and there could be a gap to fill if the Spaniard secures an exit. Nevertheless, a swap deal involving Ndombele and Estupinan feels unlikely at present.

FW rumour rating: 1/5

Paqueta still of interest?

Tottenham have embarked on an aggressive recruitment drive this summer, though they are still searching for new additions and French outlet L’Equipe have said that Spurs could reignite their interest in long-term target Lucas Paqueta.

North London rivals Arsenal are also thought to be hot on the Lyon midfielder’s trail, though the Brazilian would favour a move to Tottenham over the Gunners if the latest gossip holds weight.

Manchester City are also hovering with intent however, and Pep Guardiola is believed to be an admirer of the talented schemer as the Premier League champions eye up potential replacements for Barcelona target Bernardo Silva.

According to L’Equipe, Tottenham had a €40m bid turned down for Paqueta in January and they say Spurs are ready to rekindle their interest before the close of the transfer window.

While Paqueta is undoubtedly talented, Tottenham don’t operate with a traditional number 10 in Antonio Conte’s system, so it’s difficult to see how they would accommodate the Lyon star. We aren’t sold on this one.

Rodon completes move away

Tottenham Hotspur seem to be focused largely on trimming their squad at present and defender Joe Rodon has left the club to sign for Ligue side Rennes on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The BBC say that the deal also includes an option to make the move a permanent one and the Welsh defender is the first of a number of players who Spurs will look to move on before September.

The 24-year-old joined Tottenham from Swansea in 2020, though he failed to establish himself as a regular in North London and Rodon made just 24 appearances overall for the club.

Speaking about the deal, Rennes sporting director Florian Maurice said: “”He's a real central defender. He has that aggressive side that we need to allow us to be even more effective defensively.

“He will bring us his experience, even if he did not play all the matches last season he played in the European Cup, as we have seen at Roazhon Park.”

Conte plotting new Zaniolo bid

According to the Daily Mirror (via Rome media outlet CMW), Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is pushing the club to make another attempt at signing Nicolo Zaniolo.

Dubbed the “Italian Steven Gerrard”, Zaniolo has been on Spurs’ wish list for over a year, though they had an initial offer knocked back by Roma early in the summer.

The 23-year-old has a prominent place in the Roma team, though he is believed to be open to the challenge of testing his skills in the Premier League and Tottenham could return with a fresh bid for the schemer soon.

Tottenham’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, has been in contact with the player’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, and Spurs are expected to increase their offer for £42.5m rated Zaniolo imminently.

CMW claim that Antonio Conte wants to sign Zaniolo “at all costs”, though it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy will sanction another big move following a busy summer of incomings at Tottenham.

However, if Tottenham can lighten their salary load with a slew of outgoing transfers, then they could free up room in their squad to accommodate Zaniolo.

Tottenham sizing up move for Wolves defender?

The Daily Express have run a story linking Spurs with a surprise move for Wolves defender Max Kilman. They say Tottenham have been scouting the 25-year-old with a view to adding him to Antonio Conte’s defensive options for the new campaign.

Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar is also a rumoured target, though his enormous price tag could scupper any deal, potentially opening the door for a more reasonably valued option in Kilman.

Kilman was been a reliable performer for Wolves as a left-sided centre half for several seasons and his composed displays seem to have caught Conte’s eye.

The Italian taskmaster has already bolstered his backline with the acquisition of Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona, though the Frenchman’s career has been plagued by injuries and he might not be a reliable choice.

Ben Davies’ long-term injury last term raised concerns that Tottenham might be light in that area and the versatile Kilman could provide solutions to several different problems in the defensive third.

Kilman – a former England futsal star – has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past few years and he would almost certainly jump at the chance to take his career to the next level with Tottenham.

The Chelsea- born centre-half completed 30 Premier League appearances for the first time in his career in 2021/22 and Kilman was approached to play for Ukraine last year before the English FA rejected the application.

Tottenham eyeing Magpies' favourite

Tottenham Hotspur

The Boy Hotspur have today been reporting on an article from The Chronicle in which a reliable journalist stated that Spurs are interested in signing Newcastle winger, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Despite signing six players already, Tottenham seem keen to add to their squad this summer and look to have a few players on their way out of the club as well. We know Conte is an admirer of fellow Italian Zaniolo and Barcelona's Depay but if those deals don't go through it looks like he has identified the French winger Saint-Maximin as an alternative.

Newcastle certainly won't want to sell their 25-year-old star when they themselves are trying to improve their squad this summer but money talks and the chance to sign for Tottenham and play in the Champions League might be too hard to turn down for the Frenchman.

Is Saint-Maximin the answer though? Many Newcastle fans will tell you that he is very talented but also flawed, often lacking an end product to his mazy runs which usually end with a wayward shot. There must be a reason why Saint-Maximin is yet to feature from the French national team.

This rumour feels more like a backup plan and not a very cheap one at that. Saint-Maximin would likely cost more than either Depay or Zaniolo whose contracts will run out soon, especially as Newcastle don't need the cash. Tottenham have spent a lot of money already and probably need to sell now before they can realistically invest in another big transfer fee.

Juve star next to arrive?

Tottenham are apparently hoping to sing American international Weston McKennie this summer but any chance of a deal could depend on Paul Pogba's current injury situation, according to the Daily Mail.

McKennie, 23, made his name at Schalke before making the move to Juve but it seems that the Italian club have not been overly impressed with the USA international and have been looking to offload him for a little while now. Tottenham, amongst other Premier League clubs, have been linked with a move for the midfielder and are ready to offer £34m for his services.

However, Paul Pogba is still injured and the Italian giants are apparently now considering keeping McKennie until the Frenchman returns to full fitness, so any deal for the American may have to wait until the January transfer window. there is a chance that McKennie and his representatives will be able to push through a move if the player does want to leave as the fee will only decrease as time passes and Juve themselves can't afford to miss out on a hefty chunk of money.

McKennie would be a good signing for Spurs given his age and experience, so Conte will be hoping to use all his old ties to get this deal done and dusted.

FW rumour rating: 2/5

Spurs interested in Leicester star

Tottenham Hotspur

Journalist Paul Brown apparently believes that Spurs are hoping to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester this summer with the Belgian international looking set to leave the Midlands club. However, any deal would use up all of Tottenham's remaining transfer budget according to Brown, as reported by spurs-web.com.

Tielemans has been linked with Arsenal and Man Utd this summer and now it appears as if Tottenham have thrown their hat into the ring for the 25-year-old. A fee of around £25m has been touted for the talented midfielder due to his contract coming up to its expiration date. It is believed that the Leicester man would prefer a move to Tottenham over Arsenal due to the fact that Conte's men are in the Champions League, which will no doubt please the Spurs faithful no end.

Tielemans made his name at Anderlecht before moving to Monaco in 2017. Leicester took the Belgian midfielder on loan for the second half of the 2018/19 season and signed him permanently in the next transfer window. Since then, Tielemans has gone on to play over 100 games in the league, scoring 18-goals and has represented Belgium 52 times.

Spurs will have to act fast if they do want to get a deal done as Arsenal are said to be in advanced talks with Leicester already.

Tottenham miss out on highly-rated South Korean

Tottenham target, Kim Min-jae will be unveiled as a Napoli player this week after the 25-year-old defender agreed a £20m deal to join the Italian side from Fenerbahce. Both Spurs and Everton were said to have a keen interest in the South Korean star but have now missed their chance to sign him.

Kim made a big impression during his time at Chinese side Beijing Guoan from 2019-2021 before singing for Turkish side Fenerbahce for just €3m and has continued to develop during the 2021/22 campaign, playing 31 times in the league and scoring one goal. The 6'3″ centre-back topped many of the defensive stats for Fenerbahce last season and he has become a regular in the South Korea national team, playing 42 times for his country and scoring 3-goals.

Kim will now face his biggest test of all in Serie A but if he adapts as expected then we could see him move to the Premier League in the future for well over double what Napoli have paid for his services. Have Tottenham and Everton both missed out on a gem? Time will tell.

Rumours emerge of Conte interest in Wolves' reject

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore

Adama Traore has been linked with moves all around Europe this summer after Wolves confirmed that they were looking to get rid of the Spanish international. Birminghamwolrd.uk are reporting that Tottenham are the latest team to take up an interest in the speedy winger who is thought to be available for around £8m.

While Traore has some obvious talents, mainly his speed and dribbling ability, the former Barcelona man lacks an end product. Traore doesn't score enough goals or provide enough assists but he does have pace to burn and works hard for the team so you can see why Conte is taking a look at him.

These recent links to Tottenham may have come up simply due to the fact that Spurs are in the market for another wide attacking player and Traore's agent is simply trying to get him a good move this summer, or it could be that Tottenham have spent most of their budget and are now looking for bargain buys to fill out their squad.

Traore would do a job but he's not at the level that Tottenham would expect from one of their players and signing him would feel like a bit of a desperation move, so we're not convinced that this rumour will go anywhere.

Tottenham lining up Nico Zaniolo swap deal?

Tottenham have already been busy in the market this summer, though the Express have suggested that the chequebook is still open in North London and that Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo is a target this summer.

Antonio Conte is thought to be a big admirer of the versatile 23-year-old and Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici is due to jet out to Milan this week where a meeting with his Roma counterpart Tiago Pinto is on the agenda.

Roma could be open to a swap deal involving Tottenham flop Tanguy Ndombele in a two-part deal that would suit both clubs. Zaniolo had been linked with a move to Juventus, though the Old Lady were believed to be scared off by Roma’s £40m+ price tag.

Spurs wouldn’t be prepared to do business at that level, but a player + cash arrangement involving Ndombele would make for a smoother transaction.

Ndombele is one of several big-earners that Tottenham are hoping to get off the books before the transfer window slams shut.

Depay on Tottenham’s radar?

Tottenham Hotspur

The Sun have run a story linking Tottenham with a move for Dutch international forward Memphis Depay, though this potential move has little in the way of concrete developments.

Depay has been made surplus to requirements by financially vulnerable Barcelona this summer and it is believed that the ex-Man Utd attacker could be signed for as little as £14m.

A fee that low is sure to appeal to many suitors, though information has surfaced to indicate Depay’s preference for a move to one of Europe’s other major leagues instead of a Premier League return.

Depay’s first-team opportunities are set to be limited at Camp Nou following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and the 28-year-old – who scored 12 times in 20 La Liga starts last term – may have to seek out new pastures to make sure he’s in tip-top form for the winter World Cup.

Tottenham still have eyes for Bastoni

Despite securing the year-long signature of centre-half Clement Lenglet from Barcelona, planning for that position hasn’t stopped at Tottenham and TEAMtalk say (via Sky Sports) that Inter prodigy Alessandro Bastoni remains their primary target.

The £50m-rated defender pledged his immediate future to the Milanese giants, though Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth thinks Spurs will try to convince him to move to London next year.

“It feels like the loan signing of Clement Lenglet means he has another defender in mind,” said Sheth.

“Conte could have one eye on Alessandro Bastoni’s contract situation at Inter Milan.

“Maybe if he doesn’t sign a new deal, they can swoop in for him next summer. Spurs really are building something.”

Bastoni’s current contract with Inter expires in 2024, which means that he might be attainable in the summer of 2023 when his deal has just 12 months to run.

Mass exit on the cards as high-profile quartet left out of Tottenham tour squad

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham focussed on recruitment in the early part of the summer window, though the door could be swinging in the other direction soon according to the Metro, who have listed four prominent Spurs players among those that didn’t make the cut for the club’s tour of South Korea.

Left-back Sergio Reguilon and midfielders Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso have all been left back in the UK while Spurs jetted off for some pre-season action and all four players are rumoured to be heading for an exit before August.

While Winks came through the ranks at Spurs, Reguilon, Ndombele and Lo Celso cost a combined £124m in transfer fees, though Tottenham won’t expect to recoup anywhere near that figure should that trio move on.

Reguilon has been linked with a move back to his homeland, while Ndombele is believed to have options in Italy. Lo Celso is hopeful of a return to Villarreal, having spent time there on loan in 2021/22.

Harry Winks meanwhile, has been linked with switches to Everton and Leeds, though the latter seems a better fit following the summer sale of Kalvin Phillips. Winks started just nine times in the Premier League last season for Tottenham and it’s clear that he has fallen way down the pecking order under Conte.

Bayern refuse to rule out Kane possibility

Harry Kane

The Mirror has published a sensational report linking Harry Kane with a move to Bayern Munich, though any deal for the England international is unlikely to happen this summer.

The German champions are in the market for a new centre-forward having just sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona and in a shallow talent pool where top-class strikers are rare, Kane stands out as a top candidate to replace the prolific Polish star.

When quizzed about the possibility, Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn refused to dampen the rumours, saying: “He is under contract at Tottenham. Sure, he is an absolute top striker, but that's all a dream of the future. So let's see what happens.”

Kane famously angled for a move away from Tottenham last year, though a megabucks switch to Man City eventually collapsed after Spurs supremo Daniel Levy played hardball over the fee.

However, since Antonio Conte’s appointment, Spurs have been on the up and Kane seems far more settled in North London than he has in half a decade.

In addition, Man City have filled their gap up front with Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland, taking a potential destination for Kane off the table in the process.

Some reports have even suggested that Kane would be open to penning a new deal with his beloved Spurs. The England man scored 27 times in 50 appearances last season and Kane has hit 50 goals in 73 caps at international level, leaving him just three behind current all-time top scorer, Wayne Rooney.

While Kane would be more than a suitable replacement for Robert Lewandowski, the chances of him engineering a move to Germany at any stage feel slim.

Tottenham Hotspur History and Information

Tottenham Hotspur FC are a football team that play in the English Premier League. They are one of the only clubs to have competed in every season of the league since it was formed in 1992, having been one of the founding member clubs. Founded in 1882, Tottenham were the first English side to win a domestic league and cup double, the first English club to win a UEFA competition — the 1963 Cup Winners’ Cup — and the first winners of the UEFA Cup in 1972. In 2019 they moved into Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, on the redeveloped site of their old White Hart Lane home. Tottenham play in and white shirt with blue shorts. Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is a professional club from Tottenham district in North London. Usually referred to as Tottenham or Spurs, this club was founded in 1882 and played its games at White Hart Lane until 2019 when they moved to their freshly built Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a capacity of 62,303 seats.

Although Spurs aren’t as decorated as some other clubs, they have a few unique records. For example, they are the only non-league club that won the FA Cup back in 1901. They are also the first English club who managed to win the League and FA Cup Double in the 20th century – a feat they achieved in 1960/1961 season. In total, Tottenham has two top flight titles, eight FA Cup trophies and 4 League Cup titles. They have also won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1963 and UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984.

In recent years, Spurs were often among the top teams in the Premier League but they have failed to win it. Additionally, Tottenham got to the finals of the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League, where they lost to Liverpool. Their current manager is José Mourinho.

Among various club info, the Spurs are sponsored by a new betting site.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfers

Son Heung Min from Bayer Leverkusen for £22m in 2015

When the South Korean winger arrived at White Hart Lane in 2015, he was only 23-years old. However, he already played 5 seasons in Germany, first for Hamburg and then Leverkusen. The move proved to be a very smart buy from Spurs since Son proved his potential in the Premier League. So far, the winger has scored 61 goals in the league for the team and there’s obviously still more to come.

Luka Modrić from Dinamo Zagreb for £16.5m in 2008

The arrival of the Croatian central midfielder was seen as a smart move from the very start and the fee paid to Dinamo Zagreb for Modrić was the club’s record at the time, along with the transfer for Darren Bent for the same fee. The midfielder struggled for a while but he showed class after getting adjusted to the Premier League. He spent four years at the club before going to Real Madrid for £30 million.

Dimitar Berbatov from Bayer Leverkusen for £16m in 2006

After moving to England for a fee of £16 million, Dimitar Berbatov became the most expensive Bulgarian footballer in history. He only spent 2 years at Tottenham and scored only 27 goals but that was enough for the club to earn a nice profit after selling him to Manchester United for £31 million in 2008.

Gareth Bale from Southampton for £5m in 2007

The Welsh winger arrived at Tottenham for a modest fee of £5 million and he quickly impressed everyone at the club with unmatched pace and talent. After six years at the club, he was sold to Real Madrid for then record-breaking £90 million. In 2020, Bale returned to Tottenham on a loan.

Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyon for £55 in 2019

The most expensive signing in the history of the club is Tanguy Ndombele, a French midfielder who came to Tottenham for a fee of £55 million, plus add-ons. His first season at the club was not the best but he did show potential that might make his signing worthwhile in the end.
