Newcastle: Latest Transfer Rumours

Ever since Newcastle United were bought by an oil-rich Saudi Arabian consortium the transfer rumours involving the club has exploded. Even the likes of Neymar and Messi have been tenuously linked with a move to Tyneside. We're only going to be commenting on the real transfer rumour surrounding this club and will reference each and every rumour so that you know it has come from a reliable source.

Magpies swoop for Arsenal reject

Arsenal's English midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles runs with the ball during the English Premier League football match between Arsenal and Newcastle United

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is being linked with a loan move to Newcastle this summer, so say TeamTalk.

The utility man has never been able to nail down a first-team spot with the Gunners and now at the age of 25 he looks set to be loaned out once again. Since 2014, Maitland-Niles has played 72 games for Arsenal and has been loaned out to the likes of Ipswich, West Brom and Roma during that time.

Eddie Howe is said to be happy with the business the club haev done this window so any future moves will probably be loans for squad players one would have thought. Maitland-Niles isn't going to get the Newcastle fans' mouths watering but he is a decent utility player that can operate at right-back, right-wing or in central midfield.

Toon to make late move for Chelsea star

This is Football are reporting that Newcastle's Director of Football, Dan Ashworth, will make a late bid for Conor Gallagher before the transfer window shuts.

Gallagher, who got sent-off at the weekend, isn't a regular in the Chelsea first-team just yet but the club do have issues in the centre of the park and the former Crystal Palace loanee could yet get his chance to shine.

Obviously at Crystal Palace, Gallagher shined in a No.10 role, chipping in with goals and assists on a regular basis but since he has returned to Stamford Bridge, he has had to play in a much deeper role and so, the goals have dried up.

Newcastle would be looking to add a creative midfielder with an eye for goal, so if Gallagher were to move to St James's Park then we could see him return to form just in time for the World Cup.

Newcastle to tempt Dendoncker

Newcastle United

Leander Dendoncker has been revealed as a possible target for Newcastle with the club hoping to hijack Everton's move for the Belgian international, according to the Shield Gazette.

The Toffees are said to have had their first bid for Dendoncker rejected by Wolves but with the player in the last year of his contract and wanting to move, a sale is likely. It is thought that the one final area that Newcastle are looking to strengthen is the midfield and Dendoncker can operate as an anchorman or ball-winning midfielder, as well as playing at centre-back when called upon.

It is believed that the Belgian player is available for around £8.5m and that is well within Newcastle's price range.

Dendoncker, 27, joined Wolves back in 2019 from Anderlecht after a successful loan spell with the club. Since then, the defensive-minded midfielder has played over 100 games in the Premier League scoring 7-goals and has gone on to represent Belgium 29 times, scoring once.

Bakayoko on the move

Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to have his loan spell at AC Milan ended in the coming days and Inside Futbol believes that Newcastle sit top of the queue to sign the French midfielder.

Bakayoko's deal at AC Milan was supposed to last two years but after completing his first season with the Italian giants, it looks like both they and Chelsea are keen to end the deal so that the player can be transferred elsewhere.

The French international joined Chelsea back in 2017 but failed to impress and has since been loaned out to AC Milan (twice), Monaco and Napoli. Now it appears as if he is on the move again but will it be on a permanent basis this time? Newcastle would probably prefer to take the player on loan with an option to buy but Chelsea will be keen to get rid of the midfielder once and for all.

Bakayoko played just 14 times in Serie A last season despite impressing in the previous campaign whilst on loan at Napoli. Bakayoko will be keen to impress if he does get a move to Newcastle, especially with the World Cup just around the corner.

Almiron linked with move away

Miguel Almiron, Newcastle

Some reports have come out that Everton want to sign Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron, including thisisfootball.com.

We're not convinced that this particular player does not match the profile that Everton are aiming for in this window as the Paraguayan hasn't scored or assisted many goals since joining the Magpies.

Almiron, 28, has scored 10-goals in 114 league games for Newcastle since making the move from MLS side Atlanta United back in 2019. This rumour doesn't feel like it is going anywhere as the player has been involved in all four league games this season, scoring against Man City, so this might well just be an attempt from the player's agent to get him a better deal at the club.

Last Week's Newcastle Transfer Rumours

Joao Pedro deal making progress

joao pedro

Newcastle are getting close to agreeing on a deal with Watford for their young Brazilian forward Joao Pedro with a fee of around £25m being quoted, according to inews.co.uk.

As we know, Eddie Howe wants to add to his striking options and it looks like he and the backroom staff have identified Watford's Joao Pedro. The 20-year-old forward isn't prolific in front of goal, netting 13 times in 71 league games so far, but he is still young and has plenty of potential.

The Brazilian showed some of his qualities in the Premier League last season despite his team getting relegated. Now it looks like the Brazilian could be on his way back to the top-flight and a deal would make sense for Newcastle as the player wouldn't want huge wages and would certainly have plenty of sell-on potential should he continue to develop.

Toon chase MLS star

Newcastle have joined Leeds and Brighton in the race to sign Los Angeles FC' midfielder Jose Cifuentes, so says The Sun.

A fee of £6m would be enough to sign the Ecuadorian midfielder who currently plays alongside Gareth Bale. Cifuentes, 23, has made 83 appearances for the MLS side and has chipped in with 13-goals and 15 assists, so you can see why he's being linked with a move to the Premier League.

The Seagulls are thought to be in pole position for the Ecuadorian who will be keen to link up with his international teammate Moises Caicedo having seen the youngster develop really well during his brief time at the club. However, Newcastle have more pulling power and that could make the difference at the end of the day.

Magpies linked to Uruguayan Frontman

Valencia striker Maxi Gomez is once again being linked with a move to the Premier League and Newcastle have been identified as a potential destination, according to football365.com.

Gomez is believed to ‘want to leave' the La Liga side now and while the 26-year-old is valued at around £10m, it is thought that Valencia would be looking to for than that. Everton have also been linked with the forward but that might just be because they had a previous interest in the Uruguayan and it is well noted that the Merseysiders are in process of bringing in a new striker to cover the injured Calvert-Lewin.

Gomez hasn't really set the footballing world alight after making his name at Celta Vigo with 30-goals in 71 games. In 95 league games for Valencia, the forward has only scored 22-goals which is a worrying stat for any club looking to spend a hefty wage and transfer on him. Perhaps a loan-to-buy deal would suit Eddie Howe who will be desperate to reinforce his attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Everton reject on the radar

New Everton signing Moise Kean

Newcastle are bizarrely being linked with a move for Everton striker Moises Kean according to reports from Italy, as the hardrtackle.com state.

Kean is currently in the second year of a 2-year loan spell at Juventus in which the Italian club are obligated to buy the striker from Everton for a set fee thought to be in the region of £28m. This is why we can't quite understand this transfer rumour because if Newcastle were to sign Kean it would have to be from Juventus and the Italians would first have to pay Everton earlier than expected.

Kean couldn't handle the Premier League in his first attempt and when you combine that with his bad attitude, almost Balotelli-like, should give Newcastle plenty of reason to avoid making a move for the Italian international should he become available. Everton will be happy to get back the money they spent on Kean, and more, when Juve do eventually sign him. Along with Newcastle, PSG have continuously been linked with a move for Kean after he enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Ligue 1 side.

Newcastle priced out of Kone move

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Manu Kone, has been linked with a move to Newcastle recently but a report from tbrfootball.com suggests that the Premier League club aren't willing to pay the £30m that the Germans want for the Frenchman.

Kone has a lot of talent that is for sure but any deal to bring him to the Premier League has risk attached to it. The Bundesliga side are said to want £30m for the 21-year-old who only made the move to Gladbach from Toulouse in 2021.

Kone featured 27 times in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 2-goals, but is yet to be called up by the French national team. The Deep-lying playmaker has an eye for a pass and is very much in the mould of Paul Pogba but obviously has some developing to do before he makes the step up to that level.

Newcastle United History and Information

Newcastle United is considered one of the biggest clubs in England, partially down to their large fan base and loyal support. Founded in 1892 when two clubs merged to form Newcastle United. They currently play in the English Premier League under manager Eddie Howe. Traditionally the Magpies play in a black and white striped kit for the home matches at St. James Park. Their biggest derby is Sunderland in what is called the Tyne-Wear derby. They have recently bounced between the Premier League and Championship, winning the Championship title in May 2017.

Newcastle United Football Club, the so-called Magpies, is a professional football club from Newcastle upon Tyne. Newcastle United Transfers

Alan Shearer from Blackburn Rovers for £15m in 1996

Newcastle United made serious headlines after this transfer was announced. Alan Shearer was, at the time, one of the most sought after players and he was a part of Blackburn’s inspiring title run. So, it was quite surprising when Newcastle bought him for a then-record fee of £15. Shearer spent 10 years at the club and he is still the player with most goals scored in the Premier League with 260 goals.

Fabricio Coloccini from Deportivo La Coruña for £10m in 2008

Coloccini was already an established name when he came to Newcastle in 2008 but many were still surprised that the club decided to pay £10 million for him. However, the move paid off since the Argentinian defender spent eight years at the club and became a true fan favourite.

Michael Owen from Real Madrid for £17m in 2005

After an unimpressive stint with Real Madrid, Michael Owen came back to the England where he had his most successful years with Liverpool. His arrival at Newcastle United was euphoric since the club splashed out a record transfer fee for him. However, Owen struggled with injuries and he only scored 26 league goals for the club during the 4 years at Newcastle.

Ayoze Perez from Tenerife for £1m in 2014

The Spaniard came to Newcastle for a bargain fee of just £1 million but he quickly proved just how good he is. He was one of the club’s top goalscorers during his 5 years at the club, despite playing mostly as a winger. In 2019, he was sold to Leicester City for £30 million.

Jeolinton from Hoffenheim for £40m in 2019

Joelinton broke the record for Newcastle when he was signed for £40 million in 2019. The Brazilian striker was relatively successful in Germany, although the transfer did raise many eyebrows. So far, the sceptics seem to be right since Joelinton has only scored two league goals for Newcastle United in 45 games.
