Everton: Latest Transfer Rumours

All the latest transfer rumours for players potentially coming in or leaving the Toffees in the next transfer window. We delve deep into the web to report on all the reputable sources that have posted stories about Everton and their future incomings and outgoings, giving each of them a rating out of 5 as to how likely they are to go through.

Everton looking at creative midfielder

Reports have been circulating for a week or so that Everton might make a bid for Man Utd midfielder James Garner and Goodison News suggest that a deal could be agreed within the next 48hrs.

Garner enjoyed a successful loan spell in the Championship with Nottingham Forest last season but it wasn't enough to persuade ten Hag to keep him at Old Trafford. It now looks like Everton and Southampton are the favourites to sign the young midfielder who is said to be an expert from dead-ball situations. The Toffees certainly need some more creativity in the heart of their midfield at at £14m, Garner is well within their price range.

Frank Lampard is keen to build a young, hungry team with a few older heads in there to guide the team forward. Garner is certainly ready for the Premier League and wouldn;t have to move house if he decided to go to Everton rather than making the long trip down to the south coast.

Everton making Chelsea work for Gordon

Anthony Gordon

The Toffees are apparently ready to offer Anthony Gordon a new bumper deal to try and get him to stay at the club according to Chelsea News.

However, Everton already offered the young midfielder a new deal at the end of last season which he turned down, so it looks to us as if Gordon will get his move to the capital providing Chelsea meet Everton's demands.

There has been talk that Everton have asked for £25m plus Broja and Gallagher for Anthony Gordon and that Chelsea are considering the deal. It seems unlikely that Everton will get both the players they want but Chelsea might up the cash and offer one of the two players in a deal for Gordon. Either way, it looks like Everton are going to make a lot of money from this deal as Chelsea are likely to get more and more desperate as the transfer window draws to a close.

Almiron an option?

Some reports have come out that Everton want to sign Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron, including thisisfootball.com.

We're not convinced that this particular player does not match the profile that Everton are aiming for in this window as the Paraguayan hasn't scored or assisted many goals since joining the Magpies.

Almiron, 28, has scored 10-goals in 114 league games for Newcastle since making the move from MLS side Atlanta United back in 2019. This rumour doesn't feel like it is going anywhere as the player has been involved in all four league games this season, scoring against Man City, so this might well just be an attempt from the player's agent to get him a better deal at the club.

The Idrissa Gueye saga continues

Everton

Rumours from around the internet, including hitc.com, suggest that Everton are edging closer to the resigning of Idrissa Gueye and that a deal between the two clubs has possibly been agreed.

Gueye has already completed the first part of his medical but then talks between the two clubs halted due to PSG changing their minds of the terms. However, it seems that at least one of the parties has given in and the player will rejoin his former employers before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Gueye would add some much-needed quality and experience to the Everton midfield and we think that everyone involved, including the fans, just want this deal to be announced as soon as possible.

The 32-year-old has enjoyed three seasons with the Ligue 1 side but is yet to feature in any single game for PSG in 2022/23 as the club is looking to get rid of a number of squad players. Gueye won't take long to settle in at Goodison Park and knows the Premier League well from his four seasons with Aston Villa and Everton.

Toffees eyeing Irish goalkeeper

Everton are going to make a second bid for Cork City shot-stopper David Harrington with the idea of sending him straight back on loan to his current club to continue his development, so say hitc.com.

A bid of around £50k has been made by the Premier League club for the 22-year-old who will surely be excited by the prospect of linking up with England's No.1 Jordan Pickford. Cork City currently top the Premier Division table but got knocked out of the cup by Derry City last week.

Last Week's Everton Transfer Rumours

Everton chase Ajax midfielder

Towards the end of last week, Everton were heavily linked with a move for Ghana and Ajax star, Mohammed Kudus, and a deal to bring the 22-year-old on loan with the option to buy was supposedly close.

However, the Liverpool Echo have reported that current Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder denies any knowledge of such a transfer and has asked the player not join the Toffees.

Schreuder said,

“I haven’t heard anything. I think he should not leave. You can see that he is important. We need a lot of good players.”

A deal in the region of £8m has apparently been discussed between the two clubs and it sounds like the player is open to a move to the Premier League. Kudus has had his injury issues over the last couple of seasons and they have stopped him from playing as much first-team football as both parties would have prefered but when he has played, the Ghana international has impressed.

Everton are probably waiting for Dele Alli to leave before they confirm the signing of Kudus who is almost a like-for-like replacement.

Maxi Gomez again linked with Everton move

Reports from Sky Sports Germany suggest that Everton and Newcastle are considering a move for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Maxi Gomez.

Everton wanted the Uruguayan striker last summer but were priced out of a move by his current employer, Valencia. The 26-year-old forward has never been the most consistent in front of goal, scoring 30 times in 71 league games for Celta and has only notched 22-goals in 95 appearances for Valencia.

German side Borussia Monchengladbach are said to be interested in the player but believe they would struggle to meet the player's wage demands and the transfer fee. Everton and Newcastle are both in the market for a striker but Gomez would be a risk and any deal would likely be in the form of a loan to buy.

Blues in for McTominay

Manchester United's English midfielder Scott McTominay

Everton are said to be in the market for Man Utd's Scott McTominay if you believe the reports from TalkSport.

Lampard has hopes of completing a deal to bring PSG midfielder GIdrissa Gueye back to Goodison Park but talks have apparently stalled between the two clubs and now the Toffees could move for McTominay.

While McTominay is a good player and would do a job for Everton, the chances of Man Utd allowing him to join the Toffees on loan seem very slim, and Everton certainly couldn't afford to buy the 25-year-old outright, so we're not expecting much to come from this particular transfer rumour.

Chilean Championship star a target?

Everton could make a move for Blackburn Rovers forward, Ben Brereton Diaz according to Jacque Talkbot.

Having sold Richarlison to Tottenham, Everton need to add more goals to their forward line and Ben Brereton Diaz has been flourishing in the Championship for Blackburn, playing in a very similar position to the Brazilian.

Blackburn are said to have rejected a bid of around £10m from Lille for their Chilean goal machine but would consider selling the forward for between £15-20m. Brereton Diaz has started the new season well and was one of the stars of the Championship in the last campaign, so now could be the time for Everton to make their move for the 23-year-old.

Dele delayed due to paperwork

Everton

Reports from Turkey suggest that Dele Alli's transfer to Besiktas have hit a slight delay but the move is expected to be completed very soon, so say insidefootball.com.

Everton will be desperate to get Dele out of the door to free up some much-needed wages and avoid any possible fee they would have had to pay Tottenham if the player had reached 20-games for the club.

Things just haven't worked out for Dele at Everton with many suggesting that his attitude to training cost him the chance to appear more in the royal blue shirt. A move to Besiktas would suit all parties as Dele would have far less pressure on him and could start afresh in a far less demanding league.

Batshuayi waiting on Everton

Wolves apparently have a deal in place to bring Michy Batschuayi to the club from Chelsea and both parties were apparently close to agreeing to a deal but now it seems as if interest from Everton has delayed the transfer, according to footballfancast.com.

Batshuayi must leave Chelsea in order to get first-team football ahead of the World Cup in December and it looks like his most likely destination is Wolves. However, Everton are in the market for a forward with Calvert-Lewin out injured again and Lampard knows the player well from his time as Chelsea manager, so you can see why these links have surfaced.

Everton were thought to have taken a look at the Belgian striker earlier in the summer and it looked like they had decided to go with another option but with Chelsea now interested in signing Anthony Gordon, Batshuayi might be offered in any deal to take the young English winger to Stamford Bridge.

Man Utd want Begovic as backup

Everton

This strange transfer rumour came about late last week and it doesn't make a lot of sense in all honesty. The Bosnian international is currently playing a backup role to Jordan Pickford and will likely start in the League Cup against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.

Man Utd have had issues with de Gea this season and allowed Dean Henderson to join Nottingham Forest on loan but have chosen now to bring in another goalkeeper? I can't see Everton letting this deal gather any pace unless Mna Utd were to offer them a decent-sized fee for the 35-year-old as they would have to go out and find another backup keep of their own.

Man Utd gave Everton the runaround when they wanted to sign Sergio Romero, ending any chance of the deal going through on deadline day, so the Toffees owe them one and should keep a hold of Begovic who has proven a decent stand-in for the England No.1.

Everton enter the race for Gakpo

The Mirror believe that Everton are putting pressure on Man Utd and Arsenal by making a solid move for PSV star Cody Gakpo.

The Toffees are in desperate need for creativity and goals in their starting eleven and Gakpo can provide both of them in abundance as he proved for PSV last season. The 23-year-old scored 12-goals and claimed 13 assists in 27 league games for the Dutch side last season, so you can see why he is wanted by the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd.

Do Everton stand a chance of signing Gakpo ahead of these two Premier League giants? Perhaps, it will all come down to making the right kind of offer and getting the deal done as quickly as possible. If the Toffees cash in on Anthony Gordon then a move for Gakpo would be even more likely as he operates move on the wing rather than through the middle.

Everton History and Information

Everton FC are a football team that currently play in the English Premier League. They're based in Liverpool, with Liverpool FC their biggest rivals. They play their home games at Goodison Park, are nicknamed the Toffees and are currently managed by Carlo Ancelotti. Everton are one of only six clubs to have competed in every Premier League season so far, although they were close to relegation in 1994 and 1997, finishing just two points outside the relegation zone.

They have a rich history that dates back to their foundation in 1878. In fact, Everton was one of the founding members of the English Football League in 1888. Since then, Everton competed in the top flight of the English football for a record-breaking 117 seasons, only missing four of them in the process.

The Blues have also never been relegated from the Premier League since its foundation, although they still wait for their first title in the competition. To date, Everton has won 9 domestic league titles, which puts them in the 4th place in the all-time list of champions, in front of teams that have been successful lately like Chelsea and Manchester City.

The club has also won one FA Cup and one European Cup Winners’ Cup so far. Everton played its games at the Anfield stadium until 1892, just like their town rivals Liverpool. After that, Everton moved to Goodison Park where they still play even today. Their current manager is the legendary Italian Carlo Ancelotti.

Everton Transfers

Romelo Lukaku from Chelsea for £28m in 2014

After failing to prove himself at Chelsea, Lukaku was bought by Everton for a then-record transfer fee of £28 million. He was first tested by coming on loan for a season, but this proved to be a brilliant move since the Belgian striker continued his great form after signing for the club permanently. After four seasons and 68 league goals, Lukaku moved to Manchester United for a fee of around £75 million.

Lucas Digne from Barcelona for £18m in 2018

The French left-back joined Everton after spending two years at Barcelona, where he played sporadically and collected 29 games in the league. However, his Everton career was completely different – he is an indispensable member of the first team, missing only 6 games in the Premier League in his first two seasons at the club.

Mikel Arteta from Real Sociedad for £2m in 2005

Mikel Arteta arrived at Everton on a loan but the move was quickly made permanent for a fee of just £2 million. The creative central midfielder spent seven years at the club, becoming the focal point of Everton’s offence as their main playmaker. He joined Arsenal in 2011 for a fee of £10 million.

Tim Cahill from Millwall for £1.5m in 2004

Getting one of the club’s best goalscorers for just £1.5 million is certainly one of the biggest steals in Everton’s transfer history. The Australian forward became the top goalscorer in his first season and he bagged 56 league goals in his career with the Toffees.

Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City for £40m in 2017

Splashing £40 million for Icelandic midfielder in 2017 proved to be a good move for Everton since Gylfi quickly became an important part of the first team at Goodison Park. So far, he has played in 108 league games for the team. This is still the highest fee that Everton ever paid for a player.
