Everton: Latest Transfer Rumours

All the latest transfer rumours for players potentially coming in or leaving the Toffees in the next transfer window. We delve deep into the web to report on all the reputable sources that have posted stories about Everton and their future incomings and outgoings, giving each of them a rating out of 5 as to how likely they are to go through.

Chelsea in for Gordon

Anthony Gordon

Chelsea apparently had an initial bid of over £40m for Anthony Gordon rejected by Everton over the weekend but 90mins believe that Lampard would be open to selling his prized asset should he be able to get a player plus cash deal for the young winger.

Everton have made no secret of their desire to add to their squad both in attack and midfield, and have already been linked with moves for several Chelsea players. Michy Batshuayi, Billy Gilmour, Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Armando Broja and Ross Barkley have all been linked with a move to Goodison Park at one stage or another this summer and Lampard might well let Gordon go should he receive one midfielder and one striker in return.

Ideally, the Toffees would take Gallagher and Broja of the above-mentioned players and we believe that most of the Everton fans would be open to that deal. However, Chelsea and their manager Tuchel have talked about giving these two players more first-team football and the pair may well want to stay at Chelsea and fight for their place in the starting eleven. Everton would be able to offer both players a starting role and a decent wage, and when you add the manager into the mix, there is a chance for the Toffees to pull off a major coup. Lampard knows both players well from his time as Chelsea manager and that could help swing things in the Merseysider's favour.

It is going to be interesting to see how this particular rumour transforms over the next few days as Everton are desperate to bring in a few new faces and could really do with the money as well, either way, Gordon's short time at the club could be coming to an end much earlier than expected.

Everton eye Bristol City striker

Yet another striker has been added to the ever-growing list of Everton targets this summer with the Daily Mail suggesting that the Toffees could make a move for Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo has been linked with moves to both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace this summer but Bristol City have stated that they do not wish to sell their young striker. A bid of £15m from Everton would apparently be enough to change the club's mind though and the Toffees certainly have the pulling power to persuade the Ghana international away from his current employers.

However, and it's a big ‘however', Semenyo is currently injured and is not expected back in action until October so this would effectively rule out any chance of Everton making a move for the 22-year-old as they are looking to bring is a forward to replace the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin, making any move for Semenyo pointless.

Also, the Bristol City man is hardly prolific in front of goal and Everton need someone who is ready to lead the line in the Premier League and score goals on a regular basis. We're not convinced this rumour has any genuine legs on it and is probably just agent talk.

Nicolas Jackson the latest striker linked

nicolas jackson

Football Insider are reporting that Everton are considering making a move for Villarreal striker, Nicolas Kacson.

It has been revealed that Jackson has a £27m release fee and if that were to be triggered then nothing would stand in Everton's way of signing the 21-year-old frontman. However, the Senegalese striker has only recently made his impact on the Villarreal first-team and has only scored 1-goal for the club, so it would be bizarre for the Toffees to be so desperate to sign the youngster right now.

Everton are getting linked with a lot of attacking players right now and many of those rumours will just be agent talk. A move for Jackson falls more into the agent bracket as things stand as Everton need to sign a forward that is ready to start up front in the Premier League and Jackson just isn;t that man.

Everton handed boost in chase for Guirassy

Serhou Guirassy is the main striker being linked with a move to Everton this summer with a transfer said to be close.

Over the weekend, Rennes left Guirassy out of their matchday squad leading many to believe that a move to Everton is just around the corner. The Guinea international is said to be desperate to make the switch to Goodison Park and Everton are very keen to get the deal done and dusted before their next game at home to Nottingham Forest.

Guirassy impressed for Rennes over the last two seasons, scoring 10 league goals in the 2020/21 campaign and a further 9-goals the following season. However, the French club have signed a new first-choice striker and Guirassy is said to have slipped down the pecking order which has allowed Everton to come for him either on loan with the option to buy or to sign outright for a relatively low fee.

Of all the strikers linked with a move to Goodison Park, this one feels the most likely to actually go through as long as the two clubs can come up with a deal before the transfer window slams shut. The Toffees are desperate for goals and can't afford to hang around, so we're not expecting this transfer to drag out for too much longer.

Another Ligue 1 forward linked

bamba dieng

Bamba Dieng has apparently been offered to several Premier League clubs including Everton and the Toffees have apparently held initial talks with Marseille but no offers have been made, according to L'Equipe.

Dieng has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer after scoring 7-goals in 25 league games for Marseille last season. Dieng is a Senegal international with 11-caps and 12-goal to his name but hasn't really got the experience Everton are looking for in a loan striker.

Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in Dieng who certainly has something about him but whether or not he is ready for the Premier League is another question altogether.

Everton aiming to loan Saint's striker

Che Adams has been linked with a loan move to Everton according to various sources across the internet including HITC.

Everton came close to signing Adams when he was at Birmingham but in the end, the Scottish international ended up making the move to Southampton. That transfer hasn't really worked out for either party, though, Adams did manage to score 9 league goals during the 2020/21 campaign. Last season Adams only scored 7 times in the Premier League and seems to have fallen down the pecking order at St Mary's.

Everton are desperate to add goals to their team and have had a massive hole up front in the opening two matches, both of which ended in defeat. Adams is said to be very open to the idea of moving to Goodison Park and is eager for the two clubs to find a way to get this deal over the line before the transfer window closes.

The chances are that Everton won't stop at one striker and will be looking to bring in at least two and with Adams being able to play out wide as well, he could well be one of the two forwards the Toffees signing over the next 2-weeks as he also has plenty of Premier League experience.

Last Week's Everton Transfer Rumours

6'7″ Striker linked

Kalajdzic

Amongst others, the Liverpool Echo are reporting that Everton are considering a move for Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

The Toffees played without a recognised striker in the 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin being injured and Rondon out through suspension, highlighting their need for another frontman. Kalajdzic, 25, had been linked with Man Utd and Chelsea this summer but a move to Everton seems more likely for the towering striker.

On his own future, Kalajdzic said,

“I don’t know myself how my future will turn out but that will become apparent in the next few weeks or as soon as possible, but I can’t influence many things either.”

The Austrian international seems open to a move away from  Stuttgart where he has been since 2019, scoring 23 league goals in 54 appearances. Kalajdzic only started playing for the Austrian national team in 2020 due to his performances for the German club and has since made 15 appearances for his country, scoring 4-goals.

This striker is by no means prolific but he does know where the back of the goal is and would offer something to the Everton side which lacks a striker that can hold up the ball and get on the end of crosses when Calvert-Lewin is missing, as Rondon simply hasn't been up to the task and looks a shadow of the player who impressed at Newcastle.

A fee of around £15m has been touted for Kalajdzic and that is some Everton can probably afford in installments, so there could be something in this rumour, though, Lampard really wants to bring in Broja on loan from his former club Chelsea.

Coady to be Announced

Reports all over the internet today, including Goodison News, suggest that Everton could announce the signing of England and Wolves centre-back, Conor Coady, as soon as today (Monday 8th August).

Everton lost Ben Godfrey to a broken leg against Chelsea while Jerry Mina picked his usual injury during the 1-0 defeat, so the time is right for Coady to sign for the club. The boyhood Liverpool fan is said to be really keen on the move to Goodison Park as he wants to play regular football ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Wolves have told Coady that he isn't one of their first-choice defenders this season and that they won't stand in his way if he wants to leave the club this summer. Any deal for Coady is thought to be a loan with the option to buy at the end, which will suit both parties, especially Everton who are counting their pennies this summer.

Coady would be an upgrade on Holgate, Keane and Godfrey in the centre-back department and could form an excellent partnership with Tarkowski and Mina in what would be a strong defensive lineup. The Toffees were let down by their defending all too often last season but coped pretty well with Chelsea on the opening day, going down 1-0 to a first-half penalty.

This move feels right for both parties and we believe the Evertonians will get over the fact that Coady is a Red due to the performances he has put in for Wolves and England over the last few seasons.

Onana Announcement Expected

Onana

Everton have not officially announced the signing of Amadou Onana just yet (Monday morning 8th August) but manager Frank Lampard has been answering questions on his new player which suggests that an announcement is on the way, much to the relief of the Toffees faithful.

The Liverpool Echo report that, when asked in a press conference where Onana would play, Lampard answered,

“I see him as more of an eight for us. I see him as more of an eight… But the way we played today [Saturday] which is playing two sixes, kind of in-between a six and an eight playing with someone else, he can absolutely do that. Whether we want to play with two sixes, or a six and two eights, he can do all of those positions.”

So, if Everton are buying Onana to play as a No.8 that suggests that Gana will be a No.6 when he completed his move back to Everton from PSG.

Onana is set to cost Everton £33.5m and his former club Lille have put in a 20% profit clause from his next sale. Everton will be signing one of the brightest young midfielders in European football right now and the player himself is excited to join the Toffees who have an excellent history of developing Belgian footballers.

Lukaku, Fellaini and Mirallas all had big roles to play in their Everton careers and each featured for the national team on a regular basis. Onana hopes to get into the Belgian World Cup squad by showcasing his talents with Everton this season, so expect him to make a big impact at Goodison Park.

Gana Gueye to Complete Return Move

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye

The Mail Online believes that 32-year-old PSG midfielder, Idrissa Gana Gueye, will complete his return to Everton in the coming days.

Everton and PSG are said to be in ‘advanced talks' and the player has already agreed on personal terms, so an announcement is expected shortly. Everton have been crying out for new midfielders, especially a No.6 that can break up the play, defend the back four and start counter-attacks.

Ironically, this is something that has been missing from the team ever since Gana made the move from Everton to PSG, and now it looks like the Toffees will fill their Gana-shaped hole with a slightly older version of the same player.

Although Everton have a new policy in place where they aim to build a younger, hungrier squad with far fewer older players on big wages, this transfer is a case of ‘needs must'. Everton need this player, even for the short term, as they look to stabilise themselves in the Premier League after a particularly rocky season last time out. With a new stadium on the way, the Toffees need to remain in the Premier League and build up a team of young players that know each other inside out and can take the club on to the next level.

Rennes Forward a Possibility

L'Equipe are reporting that Everton have been ‘studying the possibility of bringing in striker Serhou Guirassy from Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Everton are well known to be in the market for a new striker, even before Dominic Calvert-Lewin got injured, so we are expecting many more links to want-away strikers this month.

Guirassy, 26, is a 6'2″ striker who doesn't have the best of records in front of goal. In 219 senior appearances, he has only scored 62 goals but his last two seasons with Rennes have been his most impressive to date. Last season, Guirassy scored 11 goals in 41 games across all competitions for Rennes and the season before that he netted 13 in 32.

Guirassy moved to Cologne in 2016 but never really made a good enough impressive during his 3-years in Germany, so what are the chances he will do a job in the Premier League?

This deal feels like one Everton should stay away from.

Everton History and Information

Everton FC are a football team that currently play in the English Premier League. They're based in Liverpool, with Liverpool FC their biggest rivals. They play their home games at Goodison Park, are nicknamed the Toffees and are currently managed by Carlo Ancelotti. Everton are one of only six clubs to have competed in every Premier League season so far, although they were close to relegation in 1994 and 1997, finishing just two points outside the relegation zone.

They have a rich history that dates back to their foundation in 1878. In fact, Everton was one of the founding members of the English Football League in 1888. Since then, Everton competed in the top flight of the English football for a record-breaking 117 seasons, only missing four of them in the process.

The Blues have also never been relegated from the Premier League since its foundation, although they still wait for their first title in the competition. To date, Everton has won 9 domestic league titles, which puts them in the 4th place in the all-time list of champions, in front of teams that have been successful lately like Chelsea and Manchester City.

The club has also won one FA Cup and one European Cup Winners’ Cup so far. Everton played its games at the Anfield stadium until 1892, just like their town rivals Liverpool. After that, Everton moved to Goodison Park where they still play even today. Their current manager is the legendary Italian Carlo Ancelotti.

Everton Transfers

Romelo Lukaku from Chelsea for £28m in 2014

After failing to prove himself at Chelsea, Lukaku was bought by Everton for a then-record transfer fee of £28 million. He was first tested by coming on loan for a season, but this proved to be a brilliant move since the Belgian striker continued his great form after signing for the club permanently. After four seasons and 68 league goals, Lukaku moved to Manchester United for a fee of around £75 million.

Lucas Digne from Barcelona for £18m in 2018

The French left-back joined Everton after spending two years at Barcelona, where he played sporadically and collected 29 games in the league. However, his Everton career was completely different – he is an indispensable member of the first team, missing only 6 games in the Premier League in his first two seasons at the club.

Mikel Arteta from Real Sociedad for £2m in 2005

Mikel Arteta arrived at Everton on a loan but the move was quickly made permanent for a fee of just £2 million. The creative central midfielder spent seven years at the club, becoming the focal point of Everton’s offence as their main playmaker. He joined Arsenal in 2011 for a fee of £10 million.

Tim Cahill from Millwall for £1.5m in 2004

Getting one of the club’s best goalscorers for just £1.5 million is certainly one of the biggest steals in Everton’s transfer history. The Australian forward became the top goalscorer in his first season and he bagged 56 league goals in his career with the Toffees.

Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City for £40m in 2017

Splashing £40 million for Icelandic midfielder in 2017 proved to be a good move for Everton since Gylfi quickly became an important part of the first team at Goodison Park. So far, he has played in 108 league games for the team. This is still the highest fee that Everton ever paid for a player.
