Sociedad Deportiva Eibar is one of the biggest Spanish clubs to have its roots in the Basque County, alongside Atletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Alaves, and Osasuna. Founded in 1940, the club just recently – in 2014 made its way in the Primera Division for the first time ever. The club's ground is the Ipurua Municipal Stadium, with only 8,164 seats. Before SD Huesca was promoted to the top-flight, Eibar was considered the smallest club to ever play in the La Liga. Nicknamed Los Armeros – The Gunsmiths or Azulgranas – Blue-and-carmines, the team is owned solely by fans with over 8,000 shareholders from 48 countries. Playing mainly in Tercera and Segunda Division, Eibar lacks any significant trophies. The club's most notable achievement is joining the top-flight in 2014 and keeping up with it ever since.

SD Eibar Transfers

Florian Lejeune from Manchester City for £1.50 Million in 2016 – At the time of the deal, Lejeune was a property of Manchester City without ever featuring in a single match for the Citizens. Before this move, the defender played for several second tier squads like Segunda Division Villareal B and Girona and Ligue 2 Istres and Brest. With Eibar, he got the long-awaited top-flight campaign as a regular starter making 37 appearances and even scoring once. Lejeune's form was spotted by Premier League club Newcastle United who bought him for £10 Million, and he became Eibar's most expensive departure at the time.

Joan Jordán from Espanyol for £1 Million in 2017 – Jordán was brought up by Espanyol's youth academy but was never given the opportunity to star in the senior squad. He spent the 2016/2017 campaign out on loan with Segunda Division side Real Valladolid where he participated in 35 out of 38 league games and was finally able to display his quality. SD Eibar was impressed and offered a million Euro for the midfielder to Espanyol, which the Barcelona club gladly accepted.  Jordán continued to develop finely with The Gunsmiths in the following two years. Sevilla bought him in 2019 after making 75 appearances scoring ten and assisting eight goals. The sum of £14 Million, which the Andalusian side paid, beat the record set by Lejeune, and Jordán became Eibar's priciest transfer.

Marc Cucurella from Barcelona for £2 Million in 2019 – Cucurella's career began in the city of Barcelona with the second most prominent local team Espanyol. In 2012 he agreed to join the team of Barcelona at the age of 10. The youngster never managed to score appearances for the Catalans’ senior squad but played 48 league games with the B-squad. Cucurella’s first top-flight playtime came with Eibar, who loaned him for a season with an option to buy. In his debut La Liga campaign, the versatile player featured in 31 matches and scored his first Primera Division goal. At the end of the loan, Eibar exercised their available option, and Cucurella became their property on 1st July 2019. However, in the transfer contract, Barcelona had a buyback option for the sum of £4 Million, which they triggered just 16 days after Eibar had bought the midfielder.
