This is the only side from outside of England to have triumphed with the FA Cup, which they did in 1927. Cardiff never had glamorous Premier League runs but has been cup runners-up on three more occasions. Additionally, they have won the Welsh Cup a total of 22 times.

Cardiff City Transfers

Michael Chopra from Newcastle Untied for £750,000 in 2006 – After a promising 2004/2005 season while being on loan with Barnsley, Chopra caught Cardiff's attention, who pushed for his signature. In 2016 the deal was finalized, and Chopra arrived at the Cardiff City Stadium for what turned out to be his career-best campaign. The striker managed to score 22 goals in 42 league matches, which cut his stay at Cardiff short. The following year in 2007, pressure from the Premier League outfit Sunderland was arising. In the end, The Black Cats bought him for 7.5 million euros, ten times what was invested into him originally. After failing to remain at the same level the next years, he only stayed in Sunderland for two years and later returned to Cardiff in 2009.

Aaron Ramsey to Arsenal for £6.4 Million in 2008 – The prominent Arsenal midfielder started his career with Cardiff, being a part of their youth academy. During 2007 he got promoted into the senior squad, making 21 appearances and scoring two goals in his first and only season with The Bluebirds. In 2008 Ramsey was bought by the Premier League colossus Arsenal. He spent the next ten years at the Emirates, playing in over 360 matches. Cardiff sold Ramsey for just 6,4 million, but his market value peaked at £45 Million during his career. In 2019 he joined Serie A side Juventus on a free transfer.

Kenneth Zohore from KV Kortrijk for £1.1 Million in 2015 – Over the years, the Danish player has struggled with settling in a team and has played for different teams in various countries. However, the turning point in his career came in February 2016 when Cardiff loaned him and later, in the summer, made the deal permanent buying him for £1.1 million. He remained with the club for the next three years, and during 2017-2018, Zohore contributed with 36 league appearances and nine goals to Cardiff's promotion to the Premier League. Unfortunately, The Bluebirds got instantly relegated, and after they couldn't survive in the top flight of English football, Zohore went on to join West Brom for £8.9 Million in 2019.

Emiliano Sala from Nantes for £17 Million in 2019 – In a tragic turn of events, the record transfer ended up costing the player's life. In 2019 Nantes and Cardiff were glad to make a record deal for both sides, but things didn't go as planned. Emiliano Sala's flight disappeared on 21 January 2019, and later it was announced that the aircraft had crashed, leaving no survivors.
