Sam Clucas is an English attacking midfielder who joined Stoke City in July 2015. Born on 25th September 1990, he joined the youth set-up at Leicester City as a schoolboy before a short spell with Non-League side Nettleham and a contract at Lincoln City ahead for 2009/10 campaign following a trial – making senior his Imps debut in a Football League Trophy tie with Darlington in the September. Following his release at the end of the season, the left-sided attacker began two-year scholarship at the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain. He returned to English football in November 2011 with 18 months at League Two Hereford United before joining Mansfield Town and then Chesterfield, helping the latter reach the League One play-off semi-final against Preston North End. After a £1.3m move to Hull City, Clucas featured in all but two of the Tigers’ league and play-off matches – including the 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley – as they sealed promotion to the Premier League.
