Salomón Rondón

Salomon Rondon is a Venezuelan international striker who plays for Dalian. Born on 16th September 1989, Rondon began his senior career at Aragua FC in his homeland, making his debut in 2006. After 15 goals in 49 matches, the powerful centre-forward moved to Spain’s Segunda Division with Las Palmas in July 2008. His performances caught the attention of La Liga clubs, and he would sign for Malaga for £2.5m in July 2010. After 25 goals in two seasons, the La Liga side were forced to sell their prized asset after financial difficulties struck the club – Rubin Kazan paying €10 million for the forward. After 18 months – 13 goals in 36 appearances – a £16m transfer took him to Zenit St Petersburg, where his 20 goals would help fire the club to the 2014/15 Russian League title. West Bromwich Albion broke their transfer record, £12million, to take Rondon to The Hawthorns in August 2015. Rondon has more than 50 caps for Venezuela, which has included playing in three Copa America tournaments.
