Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang is a Gabonese footballer who plays as a forward for Arsenal and Gabon national team, captaining them both. He was born on June 18th 1989 in Laval, France. As a son of a former Gabonese international, the striker started his youth career early in a local youth team.
Aubameyang moved a lot in his youth career, training and playing with clubs like Nice, Laval, Rouen, Bastia, etc. Finally, he joined the academy of a renowned Italian club AC Milan in 2007. He was promoted to the first team in 2008 but he never appeared in a match for Milan. Aubameyang spent three years on loans in France, playing for Dijon, Lille, Monaco and Saint-Etienne.
In 2011, Aubameyang signed for Saint-Etienne on a permanent deal. He further developed his finishing abilities to compliment his amazing pace and won a League Cup with the club in 2013. At the end of that season, he was sold to Borussia Dortmund.
The Gabonese became a global football star during his time in Germany. While his only trophy with the club was one German Cup in 2017, his scoring and ball movement made him one of the main transfer targets of big European clubs. In 2018, Aubameyang signed for Arsenal and he is still with the club to this day.
Although he played for France in his youth years, Aubameyang decided to represent Gabon on a senior level. He made his debut for Gabon national team in 2009. He played in three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments with the team, reaching quarter-finals in 2012. Aubameyang also represented Gabon in the Summer Olympics that same year.
When it comes to individual accomplishments, Aubameyang has plenty. He is the all-time leading goalscorer for Gabon, he was the top goalscorer of the season in both Bundesliga and Premier League and he made team of the season on few occasions in different competitions.

Aubameyang moved a lot during his youth career before he finally settled in AC Milan’s youth academy. However, he never played for the first team during his time with the club before moving to France to play for Saint-Etienne in a transfer worth £1.6 million.
His time in France was more successful and established Aubameyang as one of the best strikers in the league. After only two years, his transfer odds grew and he made transfer news when he signed for Borussia Dortmund for a fee of around £11.5 million.
Aubameyang spent five years in Bundesliga and his performances for Dortmund have made him a constant part of transfer rumours and gossip. However, these football whispers were proven true when he moved to Arsenal in 2018 for a fee of around £56 million – the highest fee that club ever paid at that time. After a bit of speculation about his future in the summer of 2020, Aubameyang signed a new contract with the club and it seems that he will remain at Arsenal for the foreseeable future.
