Nick Powell

Nick Powell is a former England U21 international striker who currently plays for Stoke City. Born in Crewe on 23rd March 1994, Powell joined the renowned Crewe Alexandra academy as a five-year-old and made his professional debut aged 16 in August 2010. His early promised paved the way to a £6m transfer to Manchester United in July 2012, where he spent a season – making a scoring Red Devils’ debut against Wigan Athletic in September 2012 – before joining Wigan on a season’s loan. The powerful centre forward scored twice in the Latics’ first ever European win in a UEFA Europa League tie against NK Maribor. A six-month loan at Leicester City followed before he ended the 2015/16 season on loan at Hull City. Powell re-signed for Wigan on a permanent deal following his release from Manchester United in July 2016.
