Myron Boadu
  Birth Place:
  Preferred Foot:

Myron Boadu is a professional football player from the Netherlands. He was born on January 14th, 2001 in Amsterdam and he has Ghanaian ancestry, although he decided to play for the Dutch national team. He plays as a striker and has spent his entire professional career at AZ Alkmaar.

Boadu is one of the most talented young strikers in Europe. He started his career at a local club called SC Buitenveldert before he moved to AZ Alkmaar when he was only 12 years old. After spending four years at the youth academy, he was moved up to the senior squad in 2016. Even then, it was evident that his scoring ability and pace are extraordinary.

At first, he played for the team’s affiliate Jong AZ but was often moved back and forth between the first team and the affiliate. He made his debut for the senior team in 2017 and he played in 42 league games for AZ Alkmaar since, scoring 20 goals in the process. His record would probably be much better if he didn’t struggle with injuries during this time.

Since Boadu’s talent was evident early on, he played for the Netherlands youth national teams. During the 2019-2020 season, the striker established himself as the first-team player and earned a call up for the Netherlands senior team. He made his debut against Estonia and scored a goal in his first, and so far only, game for the Dutch selection.

Myron Boadu Transfers and Rumours

  • 2013: SC Buitenveldert to AZ Alkmaar – Free Transfer

The striker moved to AZ Alkmaar in 2013 and has spent his entire professional career at the club. However, Boadu is still only 19 years old and he is already a very important part of the team – which means that interest in him is already pretty high. Some of the gossip predicts that he will make transfer news as soon as the next transfer window.

As one of the most talented youngsters in Europe, Boadu is currently evaluated at £16 million. Of course, his market value will probably rise further as he continues to play well and the eventual transfer fee will certainly be higher than his market value.

This is especially true when we consider the fees paid for young, talented players these days. Additionally, teams that are reportedly interested in his services are never cheap when it comes to buying potential prospects. A few bids for Boadu have already been rejected, including the £10 million bid from Arsenal.

In addition to the Gunners, other interested clubs include AC Milan, Manchester United, Leicester City, and a few more. Milan sees him as the perfect replacement for Ibrahimovic, Leicester for Vardy, while the Red Devils probably wish him to continue the success of other Dutch strikers who played at Old Trafford, like Ruud van Nistelrooy or Robin van Persie.

However, Boadu seems focused on his development and wants to make sure that he receives enough playing time. With that in mind, it is entirely possible that we will see the striker in AZ Alkmaar for another full season or more.
