Michael Carrick is an English midfield player who currently plays for . Born in the North-east of England on 28th July 1981, Carrick started his career with West Ham. Carrick joined the London club in 1997 before making his league debut for the club on 28th August 1999 as a member of a highly-talented young West Ham squad including future England team-mates Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard. Relegated in 2003, Carrick spent one year in the English First Division before leaving the Hammers to join Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2004. Carrick then left Tottenham two summers later to join Manchester United despite the then Spurs manager, Martin Jol, insisting he would stay. Carrick went on to win several Premier League titles and a Champions League with Manchester United.
