Marco Verratti is an Italian footballer who has largely played his football as a central midfielder in France. Verratti was born on 5 November 1992 in the city of Pescara. A supporter of Juventus in his early days, the midfielder found it difficult to settle at a single club during his youth. As a result, he represented the Manoppello club for a couple of years before being spotted by Pescara and the various football whispers surrounding the club.

A move to Pescara brought him to the attention of top clubs from the 2010 campaign onwards. Up until then, Pescara were playing in the lower divisions with Verratti slowly getting a breakthrough. In his last two seasons with Pescara, Verratti was almost a regular and made close to 30 appearances per season in the Italian Serie B.

Against all the transfer odds, there were a lot of rumours around Verratti, who had not yet played in the Italian Serie A even for the single match. Hence, it is a significant transfer news when PSG came calling for his services in the summer of 2012. As one of the richest clubs in the world, PSG did not think twice about offering the £10 million requested by Pescara for the transfer of the services.

One of the reasons behind Verratti being spotted in the transfer rumours section is exceptional ability to control the match with his superior passing skills. He has a technically gifted player who has the dribbling skills normally not associated with central midfielders. Verratti is also great at dictating the tempo of the match.

All these qualities convinced PSG to invest in Verratti and the decision has repaid many times over. Since his transfer to PSG in 2012, Verratti has made more than 200 league appearances. He has won seven league titles with the club and many other cup competitions like the Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue, and Trophée des Champions.

His move to PSG put him on the gossip column for a potential international debut, which came about in 2012. This debut came after he had finished as the runner-up in the European U21 Championship with the youth setup. Verratti has been unlucky on a few occasions with PSG, as he only finished as said in the Champions League during the 2019-20 campaign. The midfielder is not known for goals and he has managed five goals during his time with the French outfit. Throughout his career, Verratti has managed fewer than 10 goals.
